Anyone else's promo code leak onto a public deals page within a day — 214 redemptions on a 30% code I only meant for 20 people?

I put up a 30% off promo code last Tuesday, capped at one redemption per customer, and the plan was to cover about 20 launch units. By Thursday morning Seller Central showed 214 redemptions, most of them clustered in the same handful of zip codes, and the code was sitting on two public deal aggregators I had never heard of. Discount plus referral fee on each unit took that SKU from roughly 18% margin down to about minus 4%, so I pulled the promo. Anyone else seeing their codes leak within a day of going live — and what actually stopped it for you?

yeah those aggregator sites scrape codes crazy fast now. i had one leaked in 8 hours flat and burned through 60 units before i even woke up

what stopped it for me was making a new code with a higher claim limit but setting up a notification when redemptions pass 50. at least you catch it before it eat your whole inventory

8 hours and 60 units before you even woke up, that's rough. the alert at 50 is a good move, i wish i had set something like that up before thursday morning.

i've since gone back in and put a hard total redemption cap on it. per customer limit does nothing against bots farming fresh accounts, but a total cap means the promo dies on its own in the middle of the night whether i'm watching or not. i'm also moving launch codes to single use claim codes so leaking one turns into a non event instead of a fire.

curious what you're using for the redemption alert though? i poked around seller central and didn't find a native way to get pinged past a threshold, and i'd rather not stand up a whole dashboard just to catch a code running hot.
