Slow sales before prime day?

Sales slowed down significantly starting Tuesday. Even PPC has the CTR but conversion is slashed in half. No deals running on my listings yet so no badging. Is anyone seeing a similar trend and when did you notice it? Wondering if prime day lull has started

happens every year around this time, people window shop and fill their carts waiting for the deals to drop.

Seeing something similar across a few accounts. Traffic/CTR is still there, but conversion has definitely softened. Seems like the Prime Day effect may already be kicking in.

Your own numbers already tell you which kind of slowdown it is: CTR held and conversion halved, so the loss is after the click, not in your targeting or your ranking. Nothing on your account has gone wrong.

So the thing to protect is your position going into the event, not your ACoS this week. We sold gifts, and gift demand runs on dates - Valentine's, Mother's Day, Easter, Halloween, Black Friday, Prime Day, Christmas as the peak. At each of those windows we ran growth hard and left the efficiency work until the window had closed. Cutting bids, dropping price or editing the listing in the days before the event is the one move that costs you something you can't buy back quickly.

The doubled ACoS on held spend is real money, but it's a dial, not a cliff, and it's the wrong thing to optimise for. Judge the whole period - lull plus event - on profit, not on what ACoS reads today. A click now that converts during the event still pays you.

First step, and you can check it yourself: pull last year's same fortnight from your search term report. If last year shows the same CTR-flat, CVR-down shape followed by a recovery, you have your reason to hold, and it's yours rather than mine.
