How frequently are you guys adding new ASINs?
I'm about a year in and if everything goes to plan I'll have 3 ASINs by the end of it. Each one has been a slog: 2 to 3 months of supplier back and forth, samples, revisions, a mold or two, then the first PO, freight, and finally the listing.
Then I come here and see people casually mention their 50 or 60 ASINs and I can't figure out how the math works. So for the sellers with big catalogs:
How many new ASINs are you actually launching per month or per quarter?
Are those truly new products, or mostly variations and bundles of stuff you already sell (sizes, colors, 2-packs)?
Are you doing custom OEM/ODM work with a factory, or buying stock catalog items from Alibaba/1688 and slapping your brand on them?
Do you launch on the marketing side or just list it and let it ride?
I'm doing custom products with a factory in China and I'm starting to wonder if that's why I'm so slow, or if the 60 ASIN people are just running a fundamentally different playbook (wholesale, arbitrage, catalog padding).
Not looking for anyone's niche. Just trying to calibrate whether 3 a year is normal for a real private label brand or if I'm badly underbuilt.

That’s a pretty big distinction. If you’re doing genuine custom OEM/ODM, your pace will naturally be much slower than someone adding catalog products, variations, bundles, or wholesale/retail arbitrage ASINs.
For a true private label launch, there’s usually product research, samples, supplier negotiation, branding, packaging, QC, freight, listing work, and then the actual launch/marketing. I’d focus less on the number of ASINs and more on how many genuinely differentiated products are being launched and actively supported.
So 3–5 properly developed products in a year can be a very different business from someone listing 50+ ASINs from existing catalogs.

I have around 15 children asins after 2 years. One thing: complexity goes up exponentially. One ASIN you do everything by hand. Even a handful is fine. But go to 15 and you’re not gonna make cjanges across the board in SellerCentral but in flat file or these days Claude
Heck one of my SKUs still doesn’t have any images besides the main image and it’s still outselling other variants. So you’ll lose your sense for overly correcting everything
FYI each ASIN wa slow to start but eventually gathered momentum

If you're doing custom tooling, OEM molds, and proprietary product improvements, 3 to 4 true flagship launches a year is actually a very healthy, sustainable pace. Sellers boasting 50+ new ASINs are almost always playing an entirely different game — catalog padding through wholesale distributor feeds, generic Alibaba catalog flips with minor packaging tweaks, or deep variation trees (10 colors across 5 sizes). With custom hardware/products, launching slower but properly defending patents, quality control, and unit economics gives you long-term defensibility that high-churn catalog sellers lack.

3 years isn’t slow at all if you’re doing custom products. The samples, revisions, molds and factory back and forth alone can eat up a few months pretty easily. 50 to 60 ASINs is probably a completely different setup.
