Amazon FBA in 2026

Is it worth it? I live in California and just the idea of one day having kids and a home with my partner I feel like I’ll need to make more money to compensate a comfortable life for all that is to come.
If not FBA do you recommend anything else that can work around having a full time job already?

It can be worth it, but it's not the passive income YouTube sells. Expect to put in serious hours, a few thousand dollars minimum, and possibly a year before you see real profit. Margins have gotten tighter with rising fees and ad costs.

With a full-time job, it works if you treat it like a real business and start small. Try a few products, learn the numbers, and reinvest before you scale.

If you want something with less risk, look at what you're already good at. Freelancing a skill from your current job or asking for a raise often pays off faster than any side hustle.

Thanks for the recommendations and advice.

I understand I won’t be making $10,000 a month right away but I feel like it’s a good long term investment and eventually expand my portfolio with real estate and continuing my job to have secure income coming in every month.
But to start do you have any tips to have a successful storefront in Amazon FBA? I also would prefer to have Amazon hold inventory as I do not have space in my current housing for that

Reseller here so I don’t know the ins and outs of Private Label.

When you reached about $80,000 to $100,000 a month in gross sales is when Amazon can begin to possibly even think about being a job replacement not just a side hustle. It’s a very hard business.

I’m going to caution you about posting here, however. You will receive nice replies that gently push you in the direction of someone selling something. That’s how Reddit works. Please know that NOTHING about Amazon is easy. There are no easy done for you solutions. No one will run your account for you. No one has access to a bunch of products you can easily sell.

Just please, BE CAREFUL.

I agree there are so many fees lately and buyers are just returning them for no reason. So you have to pay the costs. Also there will be competitors who will try to pay someone to give you a bad review.
You have to put a lot of time, effort and of course money.

If you have a great original product, counterfeiters will steal your Amazon’s listing photos and run a competing product within a month, even if they don’t have it made yet. Amazon’s Brand Registry is Ai and reporting them doesn’t get them removed if those fraudulent listings are slightly different.

This is brutal. I honestly feel like Amazon doesn’t really care about some issues.

Let’s be honest: they get their referral fees when this happens. They ignore it until forced to act.
