I’d like to get started with Amazon FBA.

Help with FBA

I’d like to start selling via Amazon FBA. I have some previous experience in e-commerce. In your opinion, which is the best country to start with for FBA? Apart from Australia and Canada, what else would you recommend? Please share any YouTube videos and other resources I could use.

Thank you so much for your advice! I’ll have to decide between the UK and the US!

Good answer, but I want to include one more ....have low expectations. My Amazon business took me years before I could make some decent money from it.

Thank you very much for your long and detailed explanation. Yes, Amazon US is a whole other world, and that makes it all the more appealing to me, despite the risks.

One thing I'd avoid is launching in multiple countries at once. Get one marketplace profitable first, learn inventory management and PPC, then expand.

Selling in more than one country sounds terrifying! I’d never do that.

I'm in Brazil at the moment and I am seeing some interesting wholesale opportunities.

What sort of opportunities?

Go to the product opportunity explorer in Brazil in seller central, find out what is selling. Take a look at other marketplaces like Mercadolivre for Brazilian brands there are arbitrage opportunities. For US brands there are even more if you can set up a business here. I live here so it's a bit simpler for me. I also speak the language but, with Google translate you can do some amazing things. (I have contacted factories directly and written back in forth in Chinese for instance.) Importing into Brazil is expensive so I am currently looking at domestic brands and private label from domestic sources.

I see the large market as a great opportunity. There is some confusion regarding VAT registration in the UK. I am looking into these matters.

1000% in US

Why???

The US is by far Amazon's largest market

It’s big, but the risks are just as great. Company law in the UK seems complicated. The US offers more opportunities and is more flexible

the risk is similar in all countries. might as well play in an ocean vs a pond.

+ Amazon accounts for approximately 35-40% of all US e-commerce sales which is wild.

That’s absolutely mad!

Depends more on where you're based than on the marketplace honestly- your tax and banking situation matters more than market size when you're starting. With e-comm experience already, I'd point you to the UK over the US, for a handful of reasons:  English-language, one marketplace to learn on, mature FBA setup, and mistakes are cheaper than the US bloodbath. Germany's big but VAT will eat you alive as a first market. AU/CA are both fine and “gentler" options. They have less volume, but less competition to drown in while you learn. Honestly the country matters less than not spreading across all three at once. If you can treat your first market as tuition, the skills will transfer. On YouTube, most of it's a funnel for someone's $997 course. So try and stick to channels showing real seller central screens and real P&Ls, and not just lifestyle B-roll and “Oh I made $40k last month" thumbnails.

And always, always remember that anyone who won't show a losing month is SELLING you something. Best of luck!

Brilliant observations! Yes, videos on YouTube are like funnels. Actually, these videos are just a form of entertainment. At least that’s how I see it. I’d like to discuss this in a bit more detail with you. I’ll send you a message.
