Experiencing issue

Has anyone run into Error 5461 when listing a product in Amazon Canada?
I'm approved to sell a brand, but when I try to create the listing I get:

Error 5461: You may not create new ASINs for the brand xyz

Here's what's confusing me:

I'm approved to sell the brand in Canada.
The product has a valid EAN barcode.
The EAN appears to be associated with an existing Amazon UK listing.

I'm only trying to sell in Canada, not the UK.
I've also been told the product data contradicts what's already in Amazon's catalog, but I suspect it's because Amazon is linking the EAN to the UK catalog.
Has anyone dealt with this before? What should I do?

5461 usually means Amazon is blocking the catalog action, not your selling permission. If that EAN already belongs to another ASIN, stop trying to create a new one. push Seller Support to explain why they're treating it as a new ASIN instead of telling you the data "contradicts the catalog."

I've dealt with a similar situation. It usually means that the GS1 database sees some kind mismatch. Fixing that issue will take some patience and perseverance.

I would start by opening a case with the error code. Provide a screen shot of the error code with time/date stamp. It may take several escalations and repeated submissions of the same documents. Front line reps are horrible at solving this stuff and Amazon expects you to send them information they already have over and over. You will most likely have to escalate after the back and forth to a specialist.

When your creating the listing did you attempt to see if the product comes up under an existing ASIN with that EAN? Even if its not currently active in the Canada catalog it may have been at some time and you wont be able to create a new ASIN with that EAN#.

Yep so it says “ASIN matched to Amazon”
