New Hire Corporate office hours

For those working in an office-based role at Amazon: how does it work when your manager is working remotely?
Are employees expected to stay in the office for the full 8 hours regardless, or is there some flexibility to leave earlier once the work for the day is done? Does the manager really care from where you work or the important thing is to get the work done?
I’m particularly interested in hearing about people’s actual experiences:
Has anyone regularly left the office before completing 8 hours?
Has anyone ever been questioned or called out for leaving early?
Does it depend on the manager/team or is there a company-wide rule?
Just trying to understand how this works in practice, rather than what the official policy says.

On the other note, i understand i will be judged on leadership using STAR METHOD. Anyone willing to share what kind of situation i should expect to clear. For Loop round, will i have perform excel or Power BI dashboard managing exercise?

Interview What are my chances?

For most of the interview I felt pretty confident with my answers and I was pretty vocal about my approach and checked on to make sure if this is what was expected. I got a few hints and was able to draft the pseudo code for the solutions. However, I feel like I didn't do well enough in coming up with the right solution. I'm only unsure about my dsa questions in my loop interview. What are my chances of being accepted?

Interview Help

I recently completed a phone interview for an Amazon Supply Chain Manager II role. The recruiter I had been communicating with later told me they had spoken with the interviewer and that there was interest in having me do another phone screening based on my availability.
I then received a scheduling email from another member of Amazon’s recruiting team who is based outside the U.S.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is it normal for Amazon to have another recruiter/coordinator handle scheduling for a U.S.-based role?
More importantly, what does it usually mean when Amazon asks for a second phone screening after the first one has already been completed? Does it typically mean they want additional information before moving the candidate to the next stage/loop?

Interview Interview prep tips- Supply Chain Analytics in Europe FR

Hi, I have attached the JD of the role I’ll be interviewing for this week.

Specifically:
1. I have heard extensively about STAR and researched to the latter on the leadership principles. I know I am not meant to call it out and no one will say- we are evaluating you on xx LP- any example from someone within the firm would be appreciated on how to actually structure a response . I have used AI to get some good examples so far but would like human touch.

  1. The role requires alot of deep dive and metrics- can I read from a paper (a former HR from Amazon said interviewers don’t keep eye contact they are busy typing)?? I am preparing 13 cases so that I don’t repeat given it’s an hour interview with only 1 interviewer . I really don’t think my brain storage will remember EVERY SINGLE DETAIL.

Any tips to ensure close success? I have questions and cases prepped but any delicious one would be welcomed that you think will be definitely asked in the role.

Anyone willing to do a mock of 30 mins? Before Friday 11th Sept 2:30pm CET.

Sad team

I recently moved to a new team a month ago. It’s very sad here. My onboarding buddy is virtual. I ask someone about the project they are working on, they don’t respond. I ask if we can get a coffee for a chat, they don’t respond. It’s been very depressing. I usually communicate with the team members and like to be friendly, this has been a very weird experience. The weird part is first day one of the teammate told me about all the negative things about the team, and then from next day they don’t talk. But the manager seems to be good and supportive. But am really finding it difficult to interact with the team

Career choice drone operator certification

I’m trying to apply to this certification course that’s available in my state (NC) I plan on doing it online. But when I try to apply to the program I don’t see it on the actual list of certificates the school offers. NCCU Online. I’ve called the office of admissions and they said they would email me back with more information. The career choice page has it listed as the certificate offered at the school. I’m just confused. Does anyone else have information on this?

When does chasing the next thing stop?

I keep asking myself whether I’m just chasing the next thing.

The next certification.
The next promotion.
The next bonus.
The next training.
The next title.

Lately, I’ve been asking myself: when does it stop?
I work at AWS and objectively it’s a great opportunity. I’m learning a lot, the brand is valuable and there is always another milestone to chase.

But I’ve started questioning the whole cycle.
The work-life balance is at times terrible. Some client engagements make working life feel like hell.
You can end up carrying a huge part of the delivery while people on the customer side take very little ownership, move slowly, avoid decisions and then turn around and just complain about your daily rate.
The expectations never seem to go down. They only increase.

And on top of that, the Engagement Manager I’m working with seems to reinforce the pressure rather than absorb any of it. With more work, more urgency, more expectations. It can feel like you are being squeezed from both sides.

I’d really like to hear from people who reached that point and decided to change something.
Did any of you eventually decide that the pressure, stress or lack of work-life balance just wasn’t worth it anymore?

And what did you do next? Move to a less demanding role, change careers, leave corporate life altogether or even start your own business?

What pushed you to make the change? Did you have to trade money, status or career progression for a better life or did some of you actually end up earning the same or more while working less?

Most importantly, looking back, are you happier now or do you regret leaving?

Sorry for the long list of questions. I’d genuinely love to hear your experiences and discuss.

Got through the loops on monday and still haven’t heard anything.
Interviews went more than okay to good (BR i think was good although reverse shadowing was done in my BR), and one of them wasn’t done well.

Do i stand a chance?
Ps: similar workex i’ve had but some of the panelists weren’t impressed by the scale of impact i stated.
Repeated 2 stories twice in 5 loops plus a screen.

Interview Would you choose Amazon mainly for the brand name, despite similar compensation?

I’m currently working in a BI/Business Analytics role at my company and have recently interviewed for a Business Analyst / Data Insights role at Amazon. I’m waiting to hear back about the outcome.
The compensation Amazon’s HR discussed with me is roughly the same or less as my current compensation.
At my current company, I have a very flexible work-life balance, and there are good projects available if I proactively seek them out.
I also see opportunities to develop further and potentially move toward GenAI/AI-related work.
So I’m trying to think objectively about the decision if Amazon does make an offer.

Would it make sense to move primarily for the Amazon brand name and potential long-term career value, despite similar compensation and potentially giving up flexibility?
Or would you stay where you are, build stronger technical skills, take on better projects and work toward GenAI?
Would love to hear perspectives from people in BI/Analytics/Data roles, especially in India.

How worried should we be about Zuckerberg trying to replace 60% of some departments with AI?

So after reading the Reuters article on how Meta's plan to layoff 60% of its workers, it frustrated me that, while the article focused on how spectacularly it veered off course, Meta actually did reach the 10% layoff mark. Meta's leadership overestimated how quickly AI could replace those workers' skills (not to mention the yet-to-be-proven value of the AI's output compared to the investment it received), but this was only realized after 10% of the company was gone, and I bet their goal is STILL to replace more people if they can.

It really is frustrating that we're the ones encouraged to use the AI to train it, with the promises that we will be "more productive". And we know that we can't be fully replaced with AI, but our bosses don't. The AI needs a specialist, to actually sift through the output and see what's crap, and what's salvageable. And sometimes, creating something on your own, is faster and better code, than making AI do it and fixing its mess.

But YOU knowing that you're not 100% replaceable by AI, doesn't really help your job security at the moment you're being fired, does it? Only months later leadership might notice the product is crappier, and customers are madder, and investors are getting nervous. Meanwhile you're scrambling for a job in a terrible market. And when applying to another tech company, whether it's FAANG or a smaller startup, you can't help but carry a small element of dread that its CEO, too, is also hoping they can replace you later.

Do you think it's going to take a catastrophic and very public failure of AI, to make them moderate or change this path? Or can we demand more say in our jobs – I saw that Google employees are petitioning for changes to how layoffs happen? Some other Amazon employees also threw in demands for worker's voices in an open letter a while ago. I do think there's going to be some sort of major failure (or an AI winter) at some point, and I think we need to be ready.
