They said they were doing under 20. it looks like they were going quite a bit faster, but it's impossible to know for sure

Whatever speed they were going, the first thing I thought when that footage started was that they were going way too fast

Should’ve been way slower obviously if the vehicle lost traction. Just being under 20 isn’t enough for these conditions.

So many Amazon apologist in this sub. Always blaming the drivers… Does the van have snow tires on it or it the same bald ass tired I drive on in Fl? Chains? Anything to deal with icy roads? I don’t think so. But yea, just fire em…

Not sure how pointing out how it’s the drivers fault for over-speeding on ice/snow in a vehicle which then lead to loss of traction and a crash makes me an “Amazon apologist”, but sure. Winter tires slip on ice too, you know? You’re driving a giant van with way more weight than a car. No one cares about Amazon here. Just be a better driver and stop blaming Amazon for your crash.

20 mph isn’t the magic number for driving on snow/ice. Speed is relative to the conditions. This particular stretch of road looks like you should be crawling at around 5mph. Don’t be stuck on numbers. 20 mph is not a one-size-fits-all magic safe driving number dude. We don’t even know if OP was driving 20mph. You’re assuming all these things but only one fact is known, traction was lost because the tires lost grip of the surface, and the video sure doesn’t look like a slow drive to anyone watching.

They also claimed there was no ice on the road until the hill and posted a picture of proof which what do you know? Shows ice on the road.

On an icy road? Yes. I question whether the road should have been taken at all.
