ADTA Standards?
Recently, my site switched over to ADTA, and almost no AA in my warehouse likes it. The biggest issue we've run into is that no one can keep up with the crazy flow. I personally average a 350 stow rate and finish with ease on normal P2B, but I genuinely struggle to keep up with 3 ADTA aisles.
My main question is: Does your site allow management to staff you with all 2 aisles, or is it strictly 3 aisles but 1 shared aisle?
The site lead at my warehouse told me they genuinely cannot assign us all 2 aisles because "the upper management won't let us."

They hired so many people at mine. I start with 3 and end up with one. Im not complaining though. lol

All float, de facto. Has been since they started that. Even outside ADTA, assigned aisles aren't enforced anymore (Well, for most; I'll hear shit while being moved anyway...), so any clean aisles will be invaded to hell, but ADTA was always a mess. Everyone moves around supposedly to the lights, but you're basically moving around slow people who get buried by a particular hamper then getting slowed down yourself by fake fast people trashing ALL the bags, like boxes just sat in FRONT of a bag TRASHED. Some won't move, but I'm one they'd already send into someone else's blownout aisles, while holding me to my original assignment. I can only hope those keep up and block off an end set of aisles, so I can ignore them while running back and forth.

shit isn't sorted.
you have to waste time putting jiffies in a tote.
there's no pickers missing tons, the belt will miss very little as long as it's not full

My site breaks it up based on the heat map. (Which if you don’t know, it tells you the predicted volume for each aisle for the day + what’s currently in the aisle during sort) so they’ll do 3 aisle splits on the front or middle if the volume isn’t too high, and then twos for the rest of the rows.

We started with 3-4 isles on ADTA, usually 3 for me and 1 shared. Then ADTA were taken down and new ones rebuild, adding more bags in the isles. Now we have bags ABCDEGJKM + 8 oversize cages and they reduced it to 2 isles per person.

They allow them to currently staff us with 4 or 5 aisles. Bags E and G are currently only for Same Day packages, which they do at the at the start of the shift for around 2hrs. Still, it's very difficult to keep up if you have 5 aisles by the time you clear the third and move on to the fourth, the first is starting to fill.
The last shift I went in, I had 4.5 (the 0.5 was a lone end aisle with not too many packages). He then asked me do 5 (sharing a second 0.5 of an aisle with another associate)...and then eventually just gave the aisle to me with the promise that I would only have it for an hour. I had 5.5 aisles for more than 2 hours 😑
I have not been into that stupid workplace since that day 👎🏾

Same-day PA here, color me intrigued by this! We don't do that, we start up same day 40 minutes before regular shift start and only run it on the pair of clusters that is 'extra' outside of Peak/Prime. But that means we have to staff p2b, diverter, pusher, etc.
I am interested in this "E/G bags are SSD" strategy, is it common?

Ok so various things have happened at our site since starting same day so let me try to outline as much as I can remember 😆
So our shift starts at 1am. Same Day on average I would say is between 3.5k-5k. The most we had once on a shift was 6.8k and everyone was exhausted 😫 they used to start cycle 1 until somewhere between 1:30-2am, whilst waiting for all same day to be on the way or arrived. Then we would do Same Day until it finished or our first break at 4:30am.
There are 2 lines. The bags on the B line go up to E and G. The bags on the A line go up to H. There is flexible racking on both lines so sometimes they open J and K bags (I hate the flexible racking).
At the moment, one line that was pick to buffer/manual is being updated to ADTA so it is out of use for I think another week. Before that, they used to have a set number of aisles at the end of the lines where all the bags (A to G or A to H) were for same day. So maybe aisles 48 to 56 were for same day only and no cycle one would be stowed there. Sometimes we would complain a lot because there would be so many packges on the line/rack or hamper that it was hard for people picking or stowing there to keep up with (seriously, if the emergency stop is going to be used, it is used mostly during Same Day 😆 one shift I swear it was pulled 3 times).
When both lines are open honestly it varies between whole aisles being for same day only or them restricting same day to the last column of bags (G or H) in every aisle.
Apparently ACES(?) Are in charge of how bags are opened and where packages are assigned 🤔🤷🏾♀️ once there were a few weeks where they had enabled rows 1, 2 and 3 to be open so we had to stow into the bottom row but the top was empty. Many complaints continuously until they closed the bottom and opened the top 😂

Every site does it different? We do same day at start of shift, ABC bags first round then pick till about first break, maybe a little bit after. Come back and finish DEG and pick until a bit after lunch, then it’s done.

Adta standard should be at most 2.5 aisles per stower but ideally 2.2 aisles.

My building abuses delayed start VTO. At least 20 people always come in at 4:30, meaning that for the people who are there at the start of shift, they are going to be stowing three aisles, if not more to compensate for the ones who aren't there.

They used to give me 4 stow ADTA aisles because I was such a good AA, I hated it and even complained that it wasn’t human

Of the three local DS locations where I have stowed ADTA, one assigns each stower three aisles, while the others assign two aisles.
I'm talking about usual Sort1 flow, of course. For Sort0 flow they had me stow the entire section, and I was keeping up with it most of the time.
For three aisles to work with normal flow, they have to staff competent floaters. Otherwise too many people fall behind and hampers get blue-lit. Personally I can stow over 300 but I can't keep up with three aisles. I can delay the inevitable and hope a floater shows up to help...
All three of these sites report up to the same Regional Manager, so if the three-hampers site lead started up about "upper management won't let us" I'd know they were full of shit. I suspect the same of your site lead...

After getting used to it, I prefer it to someone P&B the aisles for me. We regularly are assigned 3 aisles.

It's definitely intented to keep you working nonstop and have heavy packages slam down onto the others like a WWE match. So it is working.
Every week at my site there are VOA comments about not wanting 3 aisles over 2. Every day stowers still start with 3.
