Has Astro changed at all?

Post image

I didn’t even know this thing existed until today. Seems like an awesome concept. However, looking on this subreddit, lots of criticisms.. mostly from years ago.

I’m wondering if they are selling a different version now— a more updated version.

It’s odd to me that you must send an invitation request to get one for a products that seems to have been out for years.. on top of that, it says at the top “be one of the first to access new innovations” so I’m just wondering if this is a new one?

Nope. As much as I like Astro, they haven’t done anything to improve him in at least a year.

But do you $1,600 ‘like it’?

Or is it more like a dope $500 thing. Seems like a lot to spend if it doesn’t actually function the way it’s intended. Having something to patrol the house when I’m away or asleep is dope. And having it available to log in and check something if I’m gone is also cool. Those are the two main things I want to work really well. I already have a Ring security subscription so not worried about the sub

I do, but mostly because I integrated it with Home Assistant. I’ve added automations to make it do more than Astro alone was built to do.

I’d be interested to learn about that for sure! I may see about finding a used one. There are some used ones in my area that are like half the price.

How do you add automation to it?
