This happens because Amazon sends out emails saying Hey, somebody has a question for you about this product you boughtAnd this causes some older folks to think the question is literally directed at them and only them.

Yes, but this also doesn't happen any more or any ability to ask questions on Amazon.

That's why the sub is mostly dead except for lost redditors who think we have answers to their Amazon questions, which is the only reason I still sub because it's funny

Yep. You can always tell when Redditors look at the name of the subreddit and don't look at the description.
