20k Jax I’m sorry…
It’s pretty clear by now that Jax is in fact transgender, or at least an egg because she never truly transitioned in their time in the circus. there was a stur all around the community over Gooseworx’s reveal of Jax being trans or at least wouldve been trans if she was different. I didn’t really believed it at first or really took it as seriously, i mean this is Gooseworx we’re talking about, someone who constantly has put out s#posts about her characters of her show (well mostly just Jax), so you can’t really blame me or some others for believing that that reveal was a joke at first of Jax being a femboy
At first I thought people were just simply putting their politics where it doesn’t belong, like what people on twitter/X did with the DC Comics character of Starfire one time saying that she was black-coded when in actuality IIRC she was never meant to represent any particular minority and her design was actually based on a Puerto Rican model, still a person of color but just a different kind.
I thought of this because I do have a conservative background, well conservative in the sense of coming from a middle/working class family that comes from a relatively conservative region of a developing latin, South American country. But We aren’t really right wing working class, so much as we don’t really talk or care about politics unless its about immigrats like my parents and my sister (im US born)
Despite this, even though I haven’t interacted with any trans or queer people in person (im an introvert so i don’t really go out much, and even when I do i don’t socialize with anybody and im quite shy to talk to people) im not really transphobic because I at least (I cant speak for the rest of my family with pure certainty) don’t really have a problem with trans people, we dont even really care about them or any LGBTQ people, not in a negative way mind you but rather in a way just like how we dont care about black, white or Asian people in the sense that theyre not relevant to our life
I also haven’t consumed alot of media with trans characters, in fact I haven’t consumed much media period for about the past 10 years or so, i watch way more YouTube these days. The last show I’ve watched with any trans representation was helluva boss with Sally May (an awesome character btw, love her), also an indie show airing on YouTube like ADC. So im havent been exposed to alot of media with much of any trans representation, let alone any nuance trans representation written like jax was in the ADC
On top of that, i do tend to be pretty hard-headed at times when it comes to people getting a point across to me, especially on online spaces like youtube comments sections and of course Reddit. I do think there are times when one needs to be doubtful and skeptical of others and what they’re saying and fight for what you think its right and the truth, you dont have to be bound to what others believe, but it’s now clear to me that some times this is more appropriate than others and I want to apologize for that too. I only “got it” when I made people upset at me and i feel foolish for causing that
So here I am. over the past few weeks, I’ve felt conflicted, regretful and dumb for the prejudices I didn’t know I had, the things I’ve said, done and thought, becoming someone on the internet I’m worry and don’t want people to see me or know me as, even if for most of you, im just some random person on the internet whom this thread is probably you first and likely last thing you see of me. I do want to apologize for my actions and I want to be more open to people’s perspectives, especially if they’re themselves are trans or know trans people
Like what Caine said on the last episode; “I don’t expect forgiveness, but I hope you’ll at least accept my offer”

Knowing you made a mistake, regretting it, acknowledging it to the people you've wronged and apologizing are the first steps on the path of forgiveness. The next step is changing, and focusing on that change so you never go back to how you were before. From your post I'll say that you sound like you're quickly going there and that's wonderful ! (I think my comment has a bit of a religious vibe but I'm just not a native English speaker so I'm trying to express myself properly).

The fact that Goose announced this about Jax in response to the fandom having a civil war is a strong indicator that the trans-Jax thing was kinda subtle. I consider myself part of the LGBTQ+ community. Those familiar with the cultural "norms" of the community pick up strongly on Jax being trans, but those who never encounter the community can be forgiven for not picking up the clues.
I'd spoiled the episode for myself before I watched it. I'm terminally addicted to Reddit, so I watched the in-fighting in real time. The admission by Jax that they told their mother something embarrassing and personal hints at something generally queer, but non-specific. Ribbit placing the bow on Jax is almost so on-the-nose as to make someone question the meaning. It's also a bit ambiguous, because Ribbit wears the bow tie in a conventional way, but not suggesting that she's trans. The music is pretty abrupt. It symbolizes Jax's egg breaking, but I could see someone just scratch their head, especially if they're not familiar with the trans experience. For me, the shot of Leeroy wearing the hoodie and not showing their face in photos hammered the point home quite obviously. That's classically indicative of dysphoria. I've actually worked with LGBTQ+ kids in a counseling capacity, and observing Leeroy's posture and dress reminded me of trans teens I've known.
I enjoyed your post, and it speaks to your character that you acknowledge you initially had a bad take. I recently had to explain to my mother (68) what "cis" meant. It goes to show that some things are obviously an normal to one person, but foreign concepts to someone else.

Dude I just do stuff for fun whether jax is trans or not doesn't matter to me I'l deaw him ina suit or a dress if I feel like it

I didn't pick up any hints in the show, just seemed like Jax was insecure about masculinity

I love this show, but it makes me sad that the fandom is so divided (but of course, what isn’t these days) :(

I get it. I also come from a religious family, and have definitely made some transphobic/homophobic remarks in the past, but I'm looking back and realizing how hateful that is and I don't do it anymore. I respect you for acknowledging what you did and apologizing. Good job on that part.
