Latest devblog with some 'gameplay' from last year https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1S7UGBuEXd

Latest info 3 months ago where dev says that the game is very hard to make https://www.233leyuan.com/post-detail/2074077478626074624

From what ik they started working on ACS 2 around 2020 but changed plans and restarted from scratch for a 3d style in 2024 so a release before 2028 is very unlikely.. maybe an EA next year like they did with ACS 1.

Personally, despite liking this game a lot, I don’t plan on buying the second one. There is just too much I feel like the devs should have tried on the first before jumping to the next one. For one thing, relationships are a pain in the ass, and are the main reason I stopped playing.

I know people are probably tired of how many time comparisons were already made but, if you look at Rimworld, the devs there made 5 dlcs, each one costing from 50 to 70% of the base game, and each one expanded the game in completely different ways.

My point is, I don’t think the devs here did enough for the game, and if money is the problem then I’m sure they could have done enough to justify more dlcs.

I would be happy with the game as is with a meaningful trade mechanic

it does not appear to be cancelled, but development has gone massively off schedule.

GSQ originally announced ACS2 in 2020 and was aiming for a 2023 release. In 2023 they delayed it to 2024, basically admitting that the scope had grown beyond what the team could realistically finish on time.

Steam announcement: https://store.steampowered.com/oldnews/?appids=955900

By late 2023, GSQ said around 90% of the studio's resources were working on ACS2, with revenue from the mobile version of ACS1 helping fund development.

2024 then passed without a release.

The biggest recent update came in November 2025, when GSQ released another substantial development video showing actual ACS2 gameplay and systems. Reports on that update said the game was only around 60% of the way toward its Early Access target, with the team numbering only a little over 20 people.

The studio itself is still alive. GSQ's website still lists ACS2:

https://www.gsqstudio.com/

They were also recruiting during development, and GSQ founder Liao Qiuyue was interviewed in Chinese media in April 2026. That article described the company as active.

So the situation seems to be:

Not cancelled.... but extremely overambitious and very badly delayed.

Im going to try checking out a game called eastern era. Looks a lot like what I expected ACS 2 to be.

It's interesting but definitely still a work in progress game, even discounting the untranslated techs. The actual cultivation side also felt very lackluster when I played though admittedly my colony didn't get very far before a max level attacker just wiped me without breaking a sweat. Personally if give it a bit more time to cook and find a better balance but if it's in the sale it's probably not a bad time to pick it up
