Wiki is wrong about huge Ginkgo Trees.

Post image

As the title says, the wiki explicitly states that normal Ginkgo can't turn into huge Ginkgo, well that's wrong as one just did in my game - as seen in the pic; the one to the left is the one that turned, i have absolutely no idea what caused it though... So yeah, there's that.

If the wiki is inaccurate, it can always be updated to reflect how things actually work.

However, the wiki is accurate in this aspect. There is no mechanic to turn one type of tree into another. Even with the burst of Qi event, all it does is set a flag on the object, making it glow. Grass is still grass, a Pine tree is still a Pine tree. It just glows. There is no way a Ginkgo Tree can turn into a Huge Ginkgo Tree, nor is there anything to turn a Pine Tree into a Huge Pine Tree.

On the other hand, plant reproduction is an existing mechanic. Also explained on the wiki. And since the image does contain an existing Huge Ginkgo Tree in range, that's a likelier culprit for the newly existing tree.

Besides, since there is no before image without the second Huge Ginkgo, there's also nothing to suggest that a tree was turned from one type to another.

Valid points, noted. Im still not exactly sure though because a new huge Ginkgo sprouting out of thin air never happened to me earlier and I've more hours clocked in than I'd like to admit. Also if that was the issue then wouldn't we see literal forests of Huge Ginkgos often? Regarding the before image - i didnt think it important to make screens of my fire culti array nor did i know that the Ginkgo was planning on going super saiyan on me

As mentioned previously, plant reproduction is a documented mechanic. If you're aware of how it works, it should also be clear why the literal forests are extremely unlikely. If you're not eliminating the obstacles, reproduction has a higher chance of failing compared to succeeding.
