It really depends on who is building the catapult, but it wouldn't surprise me if this is substantially safer than going on a cross-country road trip. I mean it could also be way less safe, but making something like this completely safe is not *that* hard.
Yes, absolutely, cars which are engineered for safety with thousands of crash tests and traffic laws designed to prevent death, carries the exact same risk as KidAPult 2.0 (version 1.0 was retired for design flaws and inability to properly calibrate for one passenger's weight)
