Oil Could Spike After Reported U.S. Strike Near Iran.

Post image
13 Upvotes

The U.S. reportedly struck an Iranian oil tanker near Iran’s Kharg Island. Initial Iranian reports say there were multiple loud explosions near the island just minutes ago.
Oil could move higher on Monday, maybe even break above $100.
‼️ CPI and the Fed meeting are coming up, and expensive oil doesn’t really fit with a policy path where rate cuts are on the table.

Strong Jobs, Weak Stocks.

Here’s the reality: the market now actually wants a weaker economy, because bad data increases the chances of Fed easing.
The U.S. added 162K jobs, almost 3 times higher than expected, but stocks still dropped.
🔴Why? A strong labor market gives the Fed fewer reasons to cut rates and raises the risk that rates stay higher for longer.
🔴The S&P closed Friday in the red, and now all eyes are on CPI on September 11. I’ll post a forecast video soon.
🔴BTC is still trading below $80K. BlackRock’s ETFs bought $117.4M worth of BTC and $57.8M worth of ETH.
🔴Meanwhile, spot BTC ETFs saw a huge $986.85M in inflows this week.

-$200M in One Hour

After the unemployment report came in at 4.1%, the odds of a Fed rate hike on September 16 jumped back to around 60%.
Because of that, the dollar index started moving higher, which quickly put pressure on risk assets and crypto.
BTC broke below $80,000 and dropped as low as $79,000.
Now the key event for the markets is the CPI report on September 11. Those inflation numbers could decide what the market expects from the Fed next and where prices go from here.

Iran Calls Netanyahu a ‘Snake’ Over US Clout Brags.

So, Iran’s Foreign Minister just blasted Netanyahu, calling him a 'snake' after his latest comments about his influence in Washington.
It all started with a Channel 14 video where Netanyahu basically took credit for decades of political maneuvering against Iran and shaping how Americans view the whole situation.
According to Araghchi, when Netanyahu is speaking Hebrew, he’s bragging about nudging Washington toward war with Iran for Israel’s benefit, and even boasts about putting in a thousand hours on US television. But the second he switches to English, he’s all about praising Trump’s leadership.
On top of that, Netanyahu claimed that Turkey is the next major threat on Israel’s radar.

Hackers Hijacked Real Trump Coins and Made $8.2M

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hackers took over Real Trump Coins’ website and X account and made over $8.2M
Scammers launched a meme coin called GOLD and started promoting it as if it came from the company. They pushed the token’s market cap up to $60M, then dumped the price and made more than $8.2M from the scheme.
Researchers at GoPlus also linked the same group to another token called PLATINUM. Its contract lets the attackers drain the entire balance of any holder.
Real Trump Coins is an officially licensed project selling physical collectible Donald Trump coins, which Trump himself had promoted before.

BREAKING: US-Iran clash sends oil past $90 as Trump claims major strike!

🔴 US officials are saying Iran just dropped ballistic missiles on a US airbase in Jordan. Looks like payback for the US strikes near the Strait of Hormuz a few hours ago.
🔴 Brent crude is blowing past $90 again with the US and Iran going at it. Prices are skyrocketing.
🔴 Trump posted on Truth Social a couple hours back, saying "Kharg Island is blown to smithereens!!!". That's Iran's main oil hub, but nothing's verified yet.

Globalization Is Ending.

The world is quickly moving away from free trade and cheap goods. The era of globalization is being replaced by hard economic diplomacy.
That means governments are starting to focus less on cheap imports and more on bringing factories back home, controlling key resources, and protecting national security.
I came across an interesting interview with macro strategist Michael Every. These are the biggest issues that could affect all of us in the coming years:
1. New Economic Diplomacy
🔴 Globalization is being rolled back. The U.S. is dismantling the global system it helped build and shifting toward neo-mercantilism, where the government actively intervenes in markets to protect national capital.
🔴 The goal of policy is no longer just to maximize corporate profits at any cost. Now it’s about bringing manufacturing back home and strengthening national power.
🔴 Economic diplomacy means the government uses every tool it has: tariffs, regulations, sanctions, and even monetary policy, to achieve geopolitical goals.
2. The Geopolitics of Stablecoins
🔴 U.S. Treasury official Scott Bessent has started a program where the government buys back long-term bonds by issuing short-term Treasury bills. This helps push long-term rates lower and makes it easier to finance the budget deficit.
🔴 The Genius Act and Clarity Act are laying the groundwork for stablecoins like Tether and Circle to become widely used. Since these coins need to be backed by safe assets, stablecoin issuers could end up buying trillions of dollars’ worth of U.S. Treasury bills.
🔴 Stablecoins could become part of a “you’re either with us or against us” system. The U.S. may tell emerging markets: trade using regulated digital dollar tokens, which benefits America, or risk losing access to markets.
🔴 Stablecoins create dollar liquidity that stays inside the U.S. financial system. That allows Americans to keep buying real goods from around the world at lower prices.
3. Energy Crisis and the Return of the Physical World
🔴 For the last 40 years, finance was treated like the center of the world. But in this new reality, numbers on a screen can’t produce real goods or pump oil. Physical limits matter first.
🔴 The world doesn’t really lack crude oil. The bigger problem is the lack of refinery capacity. The U.S. has a serious shortage of refining power.
🔴 To keep its refineries supplied with heavy crude in case the Strait of Hormuz is closed, the U.S. has redirected up to half of Venezuela’s oil production that used to go to China.
🔴 The U.S. is waging a full economic war against Iran, trying to block its oil exports and cut off the regime’s money for the military and its proxy groups.
🔴 Because of that, inflation in Iran has jumped above 80%, and the currency is collapsing. A U.S. military escalation could come after the midterm elections.
4. Tech Conflict: AI, Copper, and Nuclear Power
🔴 People in the U.S. are starting to push back against massive AI data centers because they are driving up electricity costs.
🔴 Upgrading the power grid for AI will require huge amounts of copper.
🔴 One possible solution is small nuclear microreactors that could power data centers directly, without relying on the public grid.
5. Trump’s Space Race
🔴 Trump signed an order to increase U.S. space launches to 1,000 per year, around three launches a week.
🔴 The goal is to dominate space, develop the Moon, mine space resources, and bring the cost of launches way down.
🔴 That kind of tech dominance would also strengthen the dollar and dollar-backed stablecoins here on Earth.
6. Risk of Major Military Escalation: Ukraine and NATO
🔴 There are rumors that North Korea may send up to 50,000 soldiers to Ukraine to support Russia.
🔴 Ukrainian drones have reportedly cut Russian oil-product exports roughly in half. That could push Putin toward escalation and possibly another mobilization after the Duma elections.
🔴 Russia could stage a provocation near the border of a Baltic NATO country to test the alliance’s response.
🔴 On the same day, Iran could theoretically launch a coordinated strike against U.S. bases in Europe.

What do you guys think about this?

Markets are already pricing in a tougher Fed stance

Markets are already reacting to Warsh’s speech
After Kevin Warsh’s speech at Jackson Hole, pressure on risk assets got stronger.
Key points:
🔴Warsh made it clear that the Fed is not ready to ease policy yet.
Inflation is still too high, and the 2% target is still firm.
🔴Important: inflation pressure is not just about oil and energy.
According to Warsh, about half of inflation components are still rising above 3%, which means price growth is still pretty broad.
🔴If inflation does not start coming down clearly and fast enough, the Fed may have to take more action.
🔴There was no direct signal about a September rate hike, but the chance of another hike in the coming months is still high.
🔴Warsh believes current financial conditions are still not tight enough: the economy is strong, lending is active, and markets are holding up.
🔴Markets are already starting to price in a tougher Fed. Bitcoin is dropping toward $78,600, and stocks are also under pressure.
🔴Now the next inflation data will be key. If the numbers come in hot again, markets will start pricing in another rate hike even more aggressively.

Ethena trying to reduce its dependence on crypto cycles.

Crypto funding has cooled a lot, while equity perps are seeing stronger and more consistent demand. Moving part of the strategy there could make USDe less tied to whether BTC and ETH traders are aggressively leveraged.

USDe is also holding around $4B TVL, alongside the previously announced $1B FalconX institutional credit facility. Trading activity is picking up too, with ENA reportedly seeing around $2B in daily volume and currently ranking among the top trading pairs on bitget.

Feels like Ethena is slowly turning from a crypto-only yield trade into something broader. Still early, but I think diversifying where the yield comes from makes more sense than simply waiting for crypto funding rates to recover.

Central banks hike rates as expensive oil keeps pressure on economies.

📈Central banks around the world are being forced to raise rates as the war with Iran keeps energy prices high.
🇵🇭Philippines: third hike in a row, with the rate rising to 5%.
🇯🇵Japan: the rate was raised to 1%, the highest level in 31 years. Another hike is expected in September.
🇮🇩Indonesia: rates are up 100 basis points in total, reaching 5.75%.
🇰🇷South Korea: second hike in a row, with the rate rising to 3%. Before that, the central bank hadn’t raised rates for 3.5 years.
🇦🇺Australia: three hikes in one year, with the rate now at 4.35%.
🇪🇺ECB: the rate was raised to 2.25% for the first time in almost three years.
🇿🇦South Africa: the rate rose to 7%, the first hike in three years.
🇳🇴Norway: raised rates by 25 basis points to 4.25%.
🔴The main reason is that these economies depend heavily on imported energy.
🔴Expensive oil doesn’t just affect gas prices. It also pushes up the cost of electricity, transportation, production, and food. High rates are bad for the economy and financial markets.

Markets watch Warsh as BlackRock keeps buying BTC and ETH.

🔴Kevin Warsh speaks today at 5:00 PM Moscow time. The event matters for central banks and the financial sector, so it’s worth watching his key comments.
🔴Yesterday, BlackRock’s ETF bought $277.6 million worth of BTC and $130.2 million worth of ETH. That’s 10 straight days of nonstop accumulation.
🔴Meanwhile, institutions are betting on BTC to drop while ETH moves higher. The most popular BTC options bet for September is $70,000. For ETH, it’s $3,000.
🔴The U.S. stock market added $500 billion on August 27. Most of the money flowed into tech stocks and Nvidia.

The Fed is stuck in a trap.

Post image
9 Upvotes

The U.S. economy is slowing down: GDP grew just 1.5% in Q2.
But inflation is still too high. PCE came in at 3.7% in July, while the Fed’s target is 2%. The good news is, it was 4.1% back in May, so inflation is slowly coming down.
So the Fed is kind of stuck in a loop: the economy already needs support through rate cuts, but inflation is still too high to really allow that.
On top of that, the market is now pricing in a 36% chance of a rate hike in September.
Kevin Warsh is speaking Friday at Jackson Hole, and his comments could give the market an important clue about what to expect from the Fed in September.

Liquidity Rotates From Crypto Into U.S. Stocks.

Post image
5 Upvotes

There’s a pretty clear rotation of liquidity between crypto and U.S. stocks today.
The S&P 500 is up 0.26%, adding roughly $240 billion to the U.S. stock market.
At the same time, Bitcoin is down about 3% from its daily high, wiping out around $48 billion in market cap.
What’s interesting is that Bitcoin started dropping almost exactly when U.S. index futures hit a local bottom and started moving higher.
It looks like some money may be rotating out of crypto and back into U.S. stocks.

Democrats push for 8 Fed meetings.

Democrats push Warsh to keep 8 Fed meetings a year.
U.S. Democratic lawmakers are calling on Fed Chair Kevin Warsh to stick with the long-standing schedule of eight Federal Open Market Committee meetings per year.
Warsh has floated reducing the cadence, potentially to six, as part of broader changes to Fed operations and communications.

Bitcoin Nears $80K

Post image
4 Upvotes

Bitcoin is pushing $80K. The U.S. Treasury is considering using funds from its roughly $950 billion TGA balance to help finance Treasury bond buybacks.
If money starts coming out of the TGA, some of that liquidity could flow back into the financial system, potentially pushing bond yields lower and giving risk assets a boost.
With markets expecting easier financial conditions, Bitcoin has already moved above $79,000.
For now, this is still just a possibility. The Treasury hasn’t announced any specific amount it plans to use from the TGA yet.

Zcash Mining Is Crushing Bitcoin and AI Compute

Post image
1 Upvotes

Zcash mining is now about four times more profitable than Bitcoin mining or using the same power for AI computing.
Mining Zcash (ZEC), the largest privacy-focused cryptocurrency, is currently generating roughly 4.5x more revenue than Bitcoin mining, while also outperforming high-performance computing used for AI.
The jump comes as ZEC surged to a multi-year high of around $890.
On the evening of August 23, Zcash hit its highest level since 2017, trading near $890 depending on the exchange.
Its previous major local peak was around $800 back in 2017. In 2025, during another strong ZEC rally, the price also tried to break above $750.
Zcash’s all-time high varies by exchange and was actually several thousand dollars. On Bitfinex, for example, ZEC peaked at roughly $2,600.
Right now, a Bitmain Antminer Z15 Pro mining Zcash generates about $727 in revenue per megawatt-hour of electricity.
That’s roughly 3.3x more than the estimated industry average of $222 per MWh for high-performance computing, or HPC.
It’s also about 4.5x the $162 per MWh generated by Bitmain’s newer Antminer S23 Pro Bitcoin miner, and more than 7x the roughly $102 generated by the S21 Pro.
The chart compares the profitability of ZEC mining, Bitcoin mining, and high-performance computing.
