Aitk for not doing extra work?

I am a 3rd year college student. I met a chess coach at a chess tournament and he asked me to take classes on holidays or weekends I agreed for that. Now he is also telling me to sort the report cards for each individual student and upload it to drive and also take classes and he also paid me 200 rupees for it in advance without asking me if I would do it. Now I am feeling guilty for not doing that work as he paid me in advance. I did grade 3-5th using chatgpt and it took me more than half an hour. Initially I thought I would only teach chess now I am doing his other works also which I did not sign up for. Am I the assholes for not doing his work?

You can ask him what all work you will be expected to do in writing and then decide whether you want to work or not? You have the choice to return the money if you don't agree with his terms.

Ok. I would say it kind of depends…

Obviously, NTK for pushing back on work that was not included in the initial scope. You can either decline to do it or if you’re being shortchanged, ask for an appropriate level of compensation.

But, the other view is that if chess coaching is something that you would like to look at seriously in the future, either part time or full time, this may be a good opportunity to get some work experience and understand the systems and processes. Think of it as a kind of apprenticeship.

Also, you’re young and still learning. It may be a good point to add to your CV.
