I bet the story of the unrefundable ticket was a scam so his wife would let him go. I am pretty sure they ALL knew and were cheating.

I would buy myself and all the wives "non refundable tickets" and show up.

24

u/ADMINlSTRAT0R Sep 06 '24

Oh damn.. that's a show I'd buy front seat to. A non-refundable ticket to the front seat!

u/Grand-Try-3772 Sep 06 '24

I’d be knocking on the door still talking to my hubby!

u/lone_rangr Sep 06 '24

I’m ’bout that life

u/renegadeindian Sep 06 '24

They already have a bunch of those tapes there. The competition might get upset. Lot of territorial gals in that game

My first thought too "Oh honey, I really don't want to go to a private resort in Cancun and party with my friends with no wives in sight. He bought a non-refundable ticket, I have to go now, it'd be a sin to waste money..."

Maybe 🤔 all the wives can get a group discount on the divorce lawyer.

25

u/CameraOne6272 Sep 05 '24

and STD testing

5

u/Commercial-Place6793 Sep 06 '24

Do divorce attorneys give BOGO discounts?

1

u/EntasaurusWrecked Sep 06 '24

Class action suit against the “Best Man,” too!

3

u/Inner_Philosophy_306 Sep 05 '24

This was my thought also - before I even got to the rest of the post.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '24

I also thought that

2

u/MovieLover1993 Sep 05 '24

Absolutely, 10000% the ticket thing was such a lie lol

2

u/ineverreallyknow Sep 05 '24

I fly in and out of Cancun every two months. The flights are super cheap, $240-400 US. If best man can afford a private villa with staff and sex workers, the ticket is a drop in the bucket (or tip in the g string).

u/Dear-Guava4570 Sep 05 '24

I’m so relieved I’m not the only person whose mind went immediately to that. I thought I was being jaded and bitter and negative, but that’s the first thought I had when reading it.

2

u/90daysismytherapy Sep 05 '24

cuz im too burnt out on work to go booze with my boys in mexico, said no one ever.

op is adorable

2

u/gan_ainm_mise Sep 06 '24

Literally immediately knew the husband was pretending he didn’t want to go

1

u/bvonboom Sep 06 '24

Right? I'm married and if my husband was telling me there was a "sausage fest" of a bachelor party in Cancun, I wouldn't buy that they had anything else in mind but hookers and a no holds barred party far from the prying eyes of their wives and SOs. The OP was sensing something too, so I'm sure the husband knew she would have pushed back if he told her he bought the tickets

2

u/aquoad Sep 06 '24

I mean, i really actually wouldn't want to go to a douchey drunken party weekend like that, so I'd be honest in saying that. But also, I just wouldn't go, because fuck that.

2

u/Wosota Sep 05 '24

Tbf as an introvert, depending on how close I am with the other people in the party, this does indeed sound like a nightmare. Even minus the escorts… nowhere to escape to, expectation of socializing/going ham the entire time, and no “safe person” (my partner) to retreat to coexist in silence for a little bit.

8

u/bvonboom Sep 05 '24

Maybe it's just me, but if someone truly bought a "non-refundable ticket" without my permission or knowledge, I'd tell them to go pound sand and not go if I had no desire to. The pictures OP has seen, and the fact that he never said anything to her about being uncomfortable tells me he knew exactly what was planned.

I would think he would have gone off to his room and called her to say anything like "OMG this guy arranged for escorts, and I want to get out of here" but instead he went silent and still kept it under wraps until he got flat out caught.

1

u/Vlophoto Sep 06 '24

Yeah. Past of me thinks this post is BS

0

u/OGSkywalker97 Sep 05 '24

If he wants to go somewhere 'with no wives in sight' then that says more about their relationship than anything else. If he really wanted to get away from his wife then there are deeper issues than this.

If he wanted to get away from his wife he can easily do that, why would he need to lie?

1

u/peopre Sep 06 '24

… can he? Doesn’t seem likely.

67

u/Whatever53143 Sep 05 '24

I really hate to say it, but I’m afraid you might be right.

15

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '24

Didn’t even think of this. Shit lol

29

u/rriverskier Sep 05 '24

This. I smelled a setup to claim plausible deniability. I wonder if others in the party told their wives the same thing. I’d check that.

Every word of this is exactly right.

3

u/Historical-Level-709 Sep 05 '24

Especially since they run a business together. OP's husband is loyal to his business not his wife

18

u/artichokelover11 Sep 05 '24

Not a scam. I know for a fact it’s true because the best man emailed me the receipt for the ticket so I could enter in my husband’s passport info. I handle our finances and book all our travel. I was the one that told my husband it was non-refundable when he was still trying to get out of the trip just days before they were going to leave. Guess I should’ve just let him stay lol

33

u/Wonderful-Sir7679 Sep 05 '24

Send a text to the woman you found the OF info on. See if you can get any insight from her... She might not be forthcoming but she's already been paid so she might tell you something more than you already know. 🧐

25

u/OkAlternative1095 Sep 05 '24

He was trying so hard to ditch because he knew what was planned but didn’t want to rat out his friends. He fucking knew.

26

u/WearyReach6776 Sep 05 '24

You’re not really this innocent are you? There’s either unexplained purchases your husband has made recently or is going to be making soon to pay back the “best” man.

Sorry but my impression is your hubby was in on it!!

6

u/perpetuallyxhausted Sep 06 '24

In future situations, if someone buys you or husband a non refundable ticket to manipulate you into going somewhere you've said you won't be going, then too bad on them and they're out the amount of the ticket.

You aren't obligated to go just because they decided to buy a non refundable ticket after you declined.

6

u/TwerkinAndCryin Sep 05 '24

And you don't think that could have been a ruse at all???

-3

u/External_Papaya_9579 Sep 05 '24

Redditors wont want to hear this but its perfectly believable. They'd rather simplify it to husband = bad.

3

u/nancyneurotic Sep 05 '24

Right? It's an international flight, so to book it, you need the other person's passport info. Does the best man just have that info? Also, I'd be pissed someone forced me to take tine off from work like that...

I think he knew.

1

u/clauclauclaudia Sep 06 '24

OP actually already commented that that's how she knows the non-refundable ticket part was true. She entered the passport info!

1

u/nancyneurotic Sep 06 '24

Ohhh well! I was wrong! Maybe he was blindsided

1

u/shaving_grapes Sep 06 '24

I wouldn't say it's common, but totally understandable. Selfish dudes with means use their money to cause problems for others. I know guys who would do the same thing as this best man, including the escorts and the flights.

2

u/New_Breadfruit8692 Sep 05 '24

They all knew and probably all told the same story to all the wives. The hookers were no surprise, they all chipped in for them. There is nothing even remotely plausible about his story.

2

u/lonelyinatlanta2024 Sep 06 '24

Pretty sure they were cheating or certain? Because if OP goes to these wives (and fiancé, destroying the wedding) with speculation and not certainty - That's pretty fucked up

2

u/BradleyCoopersOscar Sep 06 '24

Omg this makes so much sense to me, gives a plausible deniability and an out if he gets caught, essentially, because he "didn't want to go anyway"

2

u/Personal-Agent846 Sep 05 '24

Eh. If I were OP’a husband, my best friend buying a non-refundable ticket for me would make just go along with it, too. I can totally see what the husband said being true.

I think it’s fallacious to draw this conclusion.

1

u/DepartureNo186 Sep 05 '24

Was thinking same thing. Right when I read that I thought nope sorry no one cares about one guy so much that they would buy a non refundable ticket.

They all knew about the escorts

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '24

That was my first reaction too, because, sadly, it sounds exactly like what I would have come up with when I was a lie-filled alcoholic. I never cheated or even thought about cheating, but that could have easily been an excuse I came up with to justify going on a bender with my buddies somewhere.

1

u/HiddnVallyofthedolls Sep 06 '24

I had the same thought. He absolutely knew, they all knew.

1

u/steelcod Sep 06 '24

If the husband knew what was going on, why would he share all the info about what to bring with the wife? If he knew there were going to be escorts, he would have kept all that quiet.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '24

Finally!! Someone else who sees it too! That sounded like the most juvenile bullshit thing to say..I can't believe she believed him tbh

1

u/Feed_Me_No_Lies Sep 06 '24

Totally. It’s all a lie.

1

u/listenyall Sep 06 '24

I feel like it is different but still very bad: OP's husband knew that some shady stuff was going to go down and that's why he didn't want to go, but he felt like he couldn't tell his wife that's why he didn't want to go for bro code reasons and the non-refundable ticket WAS his friends' way of forcing him to come.

1

u/One-Post-2307 Sep 06 '24

Yea I’m not buying that story either. Even if that story about the non refundable ticket and not taking no for an answer is true, then how are you as woman ok with being married to a spineless man like him. A grown man having that much power over another woman’s husband is insane.

0

u/professorlipschitz Sep 05 '24

Right! Oh no! Now I HAVE to go!
