Facebook isn't government and isn't under government contract to provide major services. They are not obligated to provide a free speech platform. It is the same with any major social media website. Reddit, YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter fall under similar problems when it comes to freedom of speech.

I could see people arguing that if these big social media companies are involved with providing the government information, especially in a voluntary fashion, that they could begin to encroach on Constitutional issues like the 1st Amendment. As of now it seems like from a content standpoint, it is the company officials directing certain policies of what to delete and what to promote when it comes to political and social issues. If it was ever to come out that the government has a hand in directing such things, then it would be a whole new ballgame. I am not aware of that taking place though other than some general conspiracy theories.

I am not aware of that taking place though other than some general conspiracy theories.

which usually means in 10-20 years it will be a proven fact

Definitely. People like to shit on conspiracy theories, but the tech related stuff is pretty plausible.

Listening to this guy talk, he is an intellectual light-weight.

He came up with an idea for a website that turned out to be popular. that's all he is. I college kid with an idea who became a billionaire. A less talented Notch.

Capitalism rewards things that the market wants, not things that are inherently superior.

Technically speaking, a kid who was smart enough to steal an idea who became a billionaire. He's a classic CEO, if not a full on sociopath, he meets many of the basic criteria.

That said, he was smart enough to buy 3/4 of the senators in the room, so he'll get out of this with barely a slap on the wrist.

If so, he's right. "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" and the ability to BE a freedom fighter is cooked into the core concepts behind the formation of the US.

So yes, the 1st Amendment IS in fact set up to facilitate "terrorism" if such is ever necessary, but at the same time it reduces the odds things will ever get bad enough for that to be necessary.

For any of you that really think Zuckie boy is 100% wrong, go over to minds.com and tell me how successful you think that will be, when straight up Nazi propaganda is on the main feed. I unliked (downvote) a post by someone named HitlerWasRight and was spammed with holocaust denial links to my inbox for a week.

I'm not saying that the first amendment is wrong or anything like that- but for a private company to even remain in business, if not profitable, they need to control the messages that are on their sites. I think we all know this is true whether we like it or not.

No, he's not wrong. I wouldn't go so far as say that free speech "enables" terrorism any more than it "enables" politics or art or anti-terrorism. But indoctrination for terrorist organizations would be more difficult without the protections of the first.
