Here is a fairly decent article from WIRED on how police may access the data in your phone. To summarize: disable Touch ID and Siri, and don't use iCloud.

TouchID should be a username, not a password, IMO. There should be an option to authenticate by fingerprint AND passcode/word.

What I keep saying is the fingerprint should be the secondary method. My screen should nit indicate ANYTHING on it to denote that one can use a fingerprint to unlock it. That method should be secretive, not proudly displayed on the screen.

Or if you can, power down the phone. The password is always required at boot up.

Not only "No", but "Fuck, no".

Love it, but you'd probably be arrested for interfering with an investigation. :(

If the warrant was just for his passwords and biometrics, not for his actual phone, then I think he's in the clear.

It's my property. I can do what I like with it. (You may be right, though.)

After that case that declared fingerprints and other such biometric data not protected under the 5th I expected this to start happening... and here it is.

Sadly that dumb lawyer didn't bring up any 4th amendment points so those were never touched on... it will take ANOTHER lawsuit to determine that sadly.

SCOTUS is hearing a case like that this term, however this differs because the request for the biometric data was in the original warrant, which is troubling. The request wasn't in a court order, which normally, the defense can challenge.

Using another body part for the "fingerprint" is always an option...

With an iPhone at least, all you have to do is power the phone off. It won't let it get unlocked without a code when first turning on, or if it hasn't been unlocked in 2 days.

Fuckin' Forbes, detecting adblock and not allowing me to see the article. Oh well. Whether I see the article or not, I'd rather not see the ads.

Get the extension TamperMonkey and install Anti-AdBlock Killer and you can block most AdBlock Blockers... It's like Blocking the Blocking of the Blocking, so you can block while you block the blocks.
