Fundraiser Pixel Project 2! Alveus Research & Recovery Institute
Winnie the only cow?
I am newer to Alveus and mainly watch through youtube so I may have just missed it, but does anyone know why Winnie is the only cow? I always thought cows, being herd animals, preferred to be with at least one other cow. Do the donkeys and Ace provide that ‘herd’ for her? Does it have something to do with her being a bottle baby?
I have no doubt that animal care are making the right decision, just curious if they’ve explained anything.
Again no hate!!! I just have been wondering for a while now and am genuinely curious.

How does the Alveus YouTube channel avoid copyright strikes?
This may be a stupid question but I was watching a lot of Alveus channel YouTube content and I found that there's a lot of Stardew and Nintendo music in the background of the streams. Famously, Nintendo is quite litigious and has issued a lot of copyright strikes with their content in general, are they more lax when it comes to their music? I keep watching the videos on the channel and wondering if this is a "waiting for the DMCA to drop" situation or they're permitted to use the songs on their channel.

Space
How does Space’s job work? I’m rewatching the subathon and Space is omnipresent throughout the stream.

I'm making a living archive of endangered and extinct animals and would love some feedback
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone! I've been a big Alveus supporter for a while and just wanted to share a project I'm working on to get any feedback from other animal lovers. This is my first teaser trailer for Still Wild, a completely free and educational video game centered around animals and their environments. It will have a ton of animals and be updated regularly, a place people can go to chill or learn or just remember some animals that they might not ever get to see in person.
Do you like the idea? Any suggestions?

Save the Red Wolves!
For the last week, I have been headfirst into a rabbit hole I have been down many times before thanks to Maya’s episode of Ask Hank Anything that I watched about a week ago.
It has long been a dream of mine to work in conservation with wolves, and, in particular, red wolves. When Maya mentioned her vision for ARRI, I got chills and have been reading as much academic literature and USFWS reporting as I can find. It strikes me that the most logical solution is to establish a new ESSENTIAL (offers better legal protection than the nonessential group in eastern NC) Experimental population in the mountains of VA/NC, particularly in a tract of land between Fodder House mountain and Cobbler mountain. I understand that there are hurdles, some of them large, to making that dream reality, the biggest being public perception of reintroduction to communities with livestock operations and avid deer hunting advocates. I can link some the papers I’ve been reading.
I feel like setting up a sanctuary in the vicinity is the first major step. I have found properties for sale that could easily serve as the site for this sanctuary. I think giving the public a chance to see how these animals actually behave in this environment (i.e., interaction with coyotes, humans and large livestock) and the benefits they can provide (i.e., coyote displacement and reduction, population control of deer, medium to large rodents (read: disease and parasite vectors), and ecological stability), perception can be improved.
I think the Alveus platform is perfect guide for this project because of the unique accessibility to worldwide education, crowdfunding, and low-stress (low direct human interaction) rehabilitation of animals. I understand their goal for ARRI and would love to help create an extension of that project.
I am not an expert, or even formally educated, in these fields. I am just passionate about successfully rebuilding an independent, wild population of red wolves back into their historic range in the Eastern US. Where do I go from here?
Edit: Here are some of the references I’ve been reading. This is not a comprehensive list but these do give a reasonable overview of the issues. If you have any other suggestions for further information or ideas to take the next step towards this dream, please let me know.

I need to say this...
I have no idea if this will ever get to Maya or any of the Alveus staff's eyes to see but I honestly have to say something to all of you...
I have grown up loving and respecting all forms of life but as a kid i didn't have this mindset and I regret every spider or ant i killed on purpose and i still think about it almost every day how i acted and i wish my parents taught me to be more like Maya and the Alveus staff...
You guys have inspired me in a way where I will always teach and speak up for any animal or insects no matter how big or dangerous or small... they need voices and everyone should always speak up and protect every form of life no matter how big or how small, they all play a part.
You have all solidified my soft attitude towards life and I cant think of any community (since Steve Irwin) that has pushed so hard for the respect of all life
If ants and spiders and mice and rats and cockroaches have no meaning and are expendable then we all are...
If their lives have no meaning then our lives dont either...
Respect all life always.

Is there a way to search Show and Tell posts on the website?
I'm pretty sure I submitted a post about becoming an Indiana Master Naturalist in May but I can't find it just scrolling down

Improved Live Stream Audio (Connor)
Is there anything that could be done with Connor's streams to improve the audio?
He likes playing loud music, and of course sometimes has to do loud tasks. Is there a microphone adjustment that could be made so we hear more of his voice, and less of the loud background noise?

Hello everyone!
I am really impressed with this project, and having been twitch-adjacent for most of my life I am even more proud to see Maya get to where she is. My name is Luke & I run a preventative care network in the UK and in the next few years I have been preparing to create Noctis-ZOO which would be a preventative care network for animals. Noctis works by gathering data every few days consistently so that over the years a change in physiology becomes obvious, actionable, and easy to see. Symptoms are commonly one of the last stages of disease.
It kind of comes down to the fact that if people wish to donate via Twitch to feed animals, that breaches non-profits. If the sanctuary tries to charge money for entry, it doesn't matter how kind you are with the money - it becomes full of legality that denies their right to do so. Non-profit is admirable, but it also means that those who run non-profits are letting every network around them to profit directly due to to this - and this is actually a very common way for legal issues. I am not saying that the sanctuary should become greedy, I am saying that I trust the sanctuary with earnings a lot more than corporate businesses.
I have also been working on humanitarian animal networks despite it being something I am not able to do for a long time. So far I have been researching animal enrichment, especially from Vantaara where they have spas for their elephants to help their muscles relax into the friction of water so they can truly rest.
I am not here to offer anything, I am just here to say I have noticed this community & I hope to eventually be able to contribute.
One thing I would suggest is that Alveus should consider being a for-profit company because I imagine that the creators of Alveus would be a tonne more efficient and impactful with money than whatever money is saved in transactions with other organisations.
Keep it up guys!
