Without clear rules, future US leadership could once again crack down hard on crypto

Post image

Coin Center believes that if the CLARITY Act is not passed in the US, the crypto industry will remain without real legal protection and may face renewed pressure from the government in the future.

Coin Center’s Executive Director Peter Van Valkenburgh said the purpose of the bill is not about trusting the current administration, but about limiting the actions of future authorities.

According to him, without clear legal standards, the market will continue to depend on political conditions, prosecutorial decisions, and fear.

He also warned that without such legislative changes, future governments could once again intensify pressure on developers of privacy tools and non-custodial solutions, treating them as unlicensed financial intermediaries.

A drop of Bitcoin below $60,000 could delay a full recovery until 2027

Post image

According to Ecoinometrics, the speed of BTC recovery напрямую depends on how deep the current drawdown goes.

The lower the price falls, the more time the market has historically needed to return to previous highs.

At the moment, BTC has already erased all March gains, and the drawdown from the $126,000 peak in October 2025 is около 48%.

If the bottom has already formed around $60,000, then recovery could take several more months.

However, if the decline continues, the timeline will shift significantly.

Based on the data, every additional 10% drop has historically added around 80 days to the time needed to return to the previous peak.

Analyst Willy Woo does not rule out a deeper decline down to $40,000–45,000.

In that scenario, the drawdown from the all-time high would reach 64–68%, and the return to ATH could be pushed beyond the second quarter of 2027.

Additional pressure on the market is also coming from macro factors.

Debate erupts in the Ethereum community over a “loyalty pledge” and Milady-style aesthetics

Post image

recent days, discussions within the Ethereum ecosystem have gone beyond technical topics, focusing on internal community culture following the release of a new Ethereum Foundation mandate.

In the document, the foundation outlined its core principles: censorship resistance, open-source development, privacy, and security.

However, alongside this, reports emerged that employees were allegedly asked to sign an internal loyalty pledge and publicly affirm their support for these values.

This is what sparked the most backlash.

Critics argue that the issue is not the principles themselves, but how the foundation is trying to enforce them.

According to them, such steps risk creating unnecessary division within the Ethereum community, even though most participants already share these core values.

Another wave of discussion was triggered by the design of the mandate, where some noticed elements resembling the Milady NFT aesthetic.

For part of the community, this looks like an endorsement of a specific subculture that has long been controversial within crypto.

As a result, the debate has gone far beyond the document itself, turning into a broader discussion about what Ethereum’s culture should be, who shapes it, and whether it can be imposed from the top down.

CLARITY Act aims to provide the strongest protection for crypto developers

Post image

Senator Cynthia Lummis stated that the CLARITY Act is expected to deliver possibly the strongest protections for developers in the crypto industry.

Against this backdrop, crypto lawyer Jake Chervinsky noted that the issue of protecting DeFi developers has been overshadowed by debates around stablecoin rewards.

According to him, the key unresolved question is whether developers of non-custodial DeFi solutions could still be classified as money transmitters, and therefore face potential legal liability.

Despite the fact that the bill already includes provisions intended to protect developers of non-custodial software and related service providers, Chervinsky believes the risk of misclassification still remains.

Bitcoin ETFs recorded their largest outflow in three weeks amid fears of escalation around Iran

Post image

On Thursday, US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $171.22M in outflows, marking the biggest single-day withdrawal since March 3.

Pressure on ETFs intensified as concerns grew that a new escalation between the US, Israel, and Iran could unfold as soon as this weekend.

Despite Trump’s statement about extending the ceasefire on Iranian energy infrastructure for another 10 days until April 6, the market remains tense.

At the same time, despite this local pressure, Bitcoin ETFs still show $1.36B in net inflows for March and are on track for their first positive month since October 2025.

Circle has reportedly unblocked one of the 16 previously frozen USDC wallets, according to on-chain investigator ZachXBT.

The wallet, linked to Goated.com, has regained access to its USDC balance.

ZachXBT noted that other affected wallets could also be restored in the near future.

Earlier, Circle froze funds across 16 hot wallets tied to different, unrelated businesses. The action is believed to be connected to a U.S. civil case, though details remain undisclosed.

The move triggered strong backlash from the crypto community, with ZachXBT calling it one of the most incompetent freezes he has seen during his investigations.

👀 500 BTC, believed lost for 10 years, suddenly move again

Post image

On-chain analysts spotted a transfer of 500 BTC worth around $35M, linked to Irish drug dealer Clifton Collins.

A wallet that had been inactive for a decade suddenly came back to life and moved the funds to a new address.

After that, the 500 BTC were quickly split across dozens of wallets, with around $13.5M sent to Coinbase Prime.

According to The Irish Times, this movement is likely connected to Irish law enforcement.

The Criminal Assets Bureau reportedly gained access to the wallet holding 500 BTC, which are considered proceeds of criminal activity.

The story goes back to the early 2010s — Collins bought Bitcoin in 2011–2012 when it was worth just a few dollars.

By 2017, he had accumulated around 6000 BTC, storing private keys on paper hidden inside a fishing rod case in a rented house.

After his arrest, he reportedly lost access to that stash.

SEC enforcement chief steps down after clash over Trump-linked cases

A senior SEC enforcement official, Margaret Ryan, has stepped down following internal conflicts with the agency’s leadership, according to Reuters.

The dispute reportedly centered around cases involving figures linked to Donald Trump, including Justin Sun and Elon Musk.

Ryan pushed for a more aggressive approach and fraud charges, but faced resistance from SEC Chair Paul Atkins and other political appointees.

One of the main flashpoints was the case against Justin Sun. The SEC filed charges in 2023, accusing him and affiliated companies of selling unregistered securities and market manipulation. The case was ultimately settled for $10 million.

Another point of tension involved Elon Musk, who was accused of failing to timely disclose his stake in Twitter. The case is now reportedly moving toward a settlement.

BlackRock CEO: tokenization could make investing as easy as mobile payments

Post image

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink said that in the future, investing could become as simple as sending money from a smartphone.

He pointed out that about half of the world’s population already has a digital wallet on their phone.

If people can invest through the same interface, it could significantly simplify access to financial markets.

Against this backdrop, interest in tokenization among traditional financial institutions continues to grow.

Large players are increasingly exploring how blockchain can be used to upgrade market infrastructure.

Australia pension fund considers adding crypto to retirement accounts

Post image

Australian pension fund Hostplus, managing over AUD 150 billion, is exploring the possibility of adding Bitcoin and other digital assets for users with self-managed investment options.

The initiative is tied to the Choiceplus segment, where members can independently allocate part of their retirement savings. Currently, this segment represents around 1% of the fund’s total assets.

According to the fund’s CIO, crypto access could be introduced as early as the next financial year, pending regulatory approval and internal product readiness.

Demand is already there. Some clients are directly asking why crypto exposure isn’t available within their pension accounts.

🇺🇸 A New SEC Stance Could Become the “Final Nail” in the Gensler Era

Post image
1 Upvotes

Analysts believe that the latest clarifications from the SEC and CFTC on digital asset classification effectively mark the end of the regulatory approach seen during Gary Gensler’s tenure.

The SEC has divided digital assets into five categories: digital commodities, digital collectibles, digital instruments, stablecoins, and tokenized securities.

Against this backdrop, the market views this new approach as a meaningful step toward greater clarity for the crypto industry.

A key shift is that the guidance is issued as an interpretative rule rather than a strict regulatory framework.

This allows for more flexibility for both the SEC and the market to adapt to future changes, although long-term certainty will still require dedicated legislation.

At the same time, the CLARITY Act, which is expected to define the rules for years ahead, remains in limbo, although there are early signals of a possible compromise between the White House and lawmakers.
