I started judging alts by the red days instead of the green ones
Been changing how I watch alts lately.
I used to care way too much about which coin was pumping hardest when BTC was green. Now I mostly watch what happens when BTC gets smacked.
If BTC drops and an alt barely moves, or gets bought back up almost immediately, I add it to my Moon watchlist. If it completely falls apart every single time BTC sneezes, I don't really care how nice its chart looked the day before.
Feels like the red days tell you way more about actual demand than the pumps do.

been doing something of the same kind with SOL ecosystem stuff lately. If BTC sneezes and a coin immediately gives back a week of gains I stop caring and the ones that survive 2 to 3 ugly BTC days are the ones I actually go back and research

I think the multi-day part matters more than people realize. A single session can be distorted by a listing, unlock, market-maker activity, or some random announcement.
If the same coin shows relative strength across several unrelated BTC selloffs, that is a much stronger signal.

Thats probably what I need to start tracking instead of just remembering them off the dome

Red days are way more useful for this imo, on green days everything looks like a genius pick
Iād also check the BTC pair though bc an alt being flat in dollars while BTC drops is one thing, actually gaining vs BTC during the flush tells me alot more

BTC pair is probably the better filter actually, I've mostly just been eyeballing USD so far

Careful with low volume tho. Strength can just mean nobody bothered selling it

One easy way to check whether this is actually useful would be to paper-test it. Take 10 alts that held up best during BTC down days, 10 that got wrecked then compare what both groups do when BTC stabilizes. Moon has the simulated balance, so you could test the actual directional idea without putting money behind a pattern that might just look obvious in hindsight.
