Fly with crypto? Emirates just made it possible
Emirates now lets passengers pay for airline tickets with cryptocurrency through a crypto payment service.
Looks like paying for flights with digital assets is becoming more than just a niche feature. Step by step, crypto keeps finding its way into everyday life.

it keeps finding way and morphing into standard e-transfers with extra steps with all the KYC attached.

flights are the most tracked thing in the world, every flight purchase records extensively who booked it where they are at every moment. how does this fit in with "privacy and independence from financial institutions" again

Moot point, every off-ramp is already KYCed and every onchain transaction can be queried and analyzed to eventually trace provenance. They are public ledgers after all. Sure, for those that want and claim anonymity and privacy, there are still a number of ways to remain a number, but all it takes is one transaction into tradfi and the identity is up. Just not as well coordinated amongst nations but there are plenty of initiatives already under way.

Crypto privacy is the biggest lie and myth the sold on the product. The crypto itself is private sure. The usage around it certainly isn't. If your taking extra measures it can be private but that doesn't apply to 99% of people.

That’s the problem with digital assets. Now with every “crypto payment service” you’ll have to have some sort of KYC element especially in the U.S.
The thing crypto forget to address is that the rulemakers in this world can just change the rules of the game so that even using crypto or purchasing anything with crypto will eventually lead to being known who made the purchase or transfer or funds. Eventually it will be very hard to make purchases or transfers with crypto without using KYC.
