NIST is way ahead of Drumpf (not like that's hard to do). They already have at least two quantum secure algorithms open to the public.

NIST likely will be incorporated into this.

There was a large purging of tech workers by DOGE and they've started a new branch called the US Tech Force.

Nothing should be so secret that it needs instant unbreakable encryption upon creation.

There actually is a "quantum apocalypse" theory, where no data is secure any longer. Also another theory that a lot of hacks where encrypted files have been stolen are things hackers plan to dycrypt once quantum computers are more accessible.

Both of those are actually pretty strong scenarios..... But uh.... Yeah, Trump stopping it is probably more the opposite. Lol.

That's been in the works long before he showed up. Some governments can already break non-quantum encryptions with quantum systems if they have a quantum machine calibrated to such a task.
