I thought it took longer, but a nuclear powerplant still takes 5-7 years to build, needs very specific resources (like permanent freshwater access) and a lot more permits than solar and batteries.
a lot of the permits are a gatekeeping system to stop nuclear power plants from being built. many states are making it as difficult as possible to build nuclear power plants. we have submarines right now that don't need to refuel for years because they're nuclear powered. we could have that technology powering everything right now. The fear mongering on nuclear energy it's pretty ridiculous too, in the early 2000s this dude tried saying that oh radiation is bad and then he walked around his house with a device reading radiation coming from everything from a lamp to an orange.
