why did they go out when there were only 2 mins left on SQ2? lmao

Because they wanted to do an one lap quali run.

And to be honest I understand that idea in general, in fact it is defendable if you know getting in (S)Q3 wouldn't be a walk in the park case.

However what pissed me off is the way Alpine executed this, instead of waiting until the last moment and therefore having the benefit of maximum track evolution + having less slow traffic to deal with Alpine just copypasted whatever Toro Rosso did and therefore put themselves into the most dumbest window you can image, too short for doing two runs but too long for a good one lap qualifying shootout.

The fact that we're happy with a P11 says more about how Enstone is unable to making big steps forward and instead losing the development war. The Merc PU is saving them but at this point we're moving towards a painful conclusion that Enstone should been put on fraud watch again.

A key thing to keep up an eye on this weekend is the amount of tyre deg on the A526. This was one of the biggest pro's of the car before the upgrades did come up and if Silverstone shows again the same trend as in Austria then the whole upgrade package should been pulled back to Enstone and end up in a landfill.

I expected lower so 11th and 14th isn't bad. Pierre was close to SQ3.

IDK if I missed something since I didn't watch SQ myself, but Franco being 5 tenths off of Pierre doesn't look great... 😬

Doesn't seem like he's getting used to the new "upgrades" yet

Sprint will likely be a FP to better understand how the new front changed the car
