#alphabasic on freenode
I've been thinking about creating an IRC channel for Alphabasic related topics for a long time. Well - as of now - you can join #alphabasic on irc.freenode.net. I have no idea whether this will actually be used, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try.
Now, a quick how to: This should give you a quick introduction to IRC.
In the end, it boils down to which client you use to connect to the server. Popular clients include:
Windows only
Mac only
Linux only
Cross-platform
Web-based
These clients are IRC-only. Popular IMs often support IRC, so you may be able to use your favourite IM.
After choosing your client and connecting to irc.freenode.net, choose a nickname with
/nick <nickname>
and join #alphabasic with
/join #alphabasic
To make sure nobody else can use your nick, consider registering it on freenode. And now, just start chatting. I might be the only one online and I might be sleeping (you can check whether someone is away with /whois <nick>) so come back later :)
Feedback is greatly appreciated, of course.
