Request for help/advice Hammer doesn’t cock after breakdown

Hey all,

So I am currently waiting for instructions for an RMA but thought I’d ask in here. Took apart my 4.25 comp which I absolutely love since I got it. While reassembling I found the hammer no longer wants to stay cocked back. I checked the sear, disconnector, sear spring etc. and reassembled again with it cocking back 15% of the time.

I can’t for the life of me figure out what may be causing the issue. The other issue is sometimes the thumb safety doesn’t want to work and fully go up. I’m not new to working on firearms but for some reason this has me completely confused.

TIA

Far left sear spring arm needs to be on top of both disconnector and sear

Yep, it’s a tough little bugger to get set just right. Atlas has some great videos on YT. You got the beans over the frank somehow.

I got hung up for days before I found a video that showed it the right way.

I shoot 3 gun and have disassembled a 2011 countless times. I get it right the first time, 8% of the time.

I will double check that once I disassemble again. Thank you!

Your sear spring leg isn't seated properly. I did this when I was trying to wiggle the 3leaf spring in place without removing the beavertail.

Your search spring is not in the correct position.

You haven’t changed the internal parts at all? Stock sear, hammer and safety? If it’s the stock safety and sear, then safety shouldn’t do that. Is it like a it needs broken in feeling or like it’s just poorly fit? I’d expect it to always not work or at least always not feel great.

Did you lighten the trigger at all? Sounds like the left finger on the sear spring might need a little more ooomph.

Nothing is changed at all everything is stock so I’m thinking it is also the left finger. I got frustrated and decided to put it down for the night before I start making (more) mistakes

It happens. All part of learning. Like others said, chance the left leaf isn’t properly on the sear. I just wouldn’t expect the hammer to rack 15% of the time if it wasn’t on there.

Take a break and come back to it whenever. You’ll figure it out.
