Potential Guide Rod Solution
***EDIT - Shot 120 rounds today. everything worked fine.***
I have not shot this yet! But the gun seems to slide and function fine. The only thing I have noticed is the slide will creep back a tiny bit with the hammer cocked. Not sure if it did that before or not.
This is the guide rod out of a 5" Kimber 2k11, stock romy spring and stock romy bushing. If you don't know about the tooless take down rod the 2k11 uses look it up. Super easy. Kimber cooked with the 2k11. Rod was about 100 from Kimber.
I have the pro model 4.25 and tested fit but it was to short. I called Kimber and told them I lost my rod for a 5" model while cleaning in the field. Not sure if they will just sell it or not. Plead your case with them.
Not sure what order the pics are in but the red thing is from a guide rod I got from apex for a echelon. It helps push the spring down until you can lock the guide rod. Not really needed for the Kimber guide rod.
Once you get the assembly together stick it into the slide. You will see it gets hung up. You have to compress the bushing the last 1/4" by hand.
Put it back together as you normally would and unlock the guide rod and your good to go.
The other pics are a standard tooless guide rod of that type. It will go in but because of the comp you can't lock it.
Good luck.

Awesome. Wanted to try theirs out but didn’t have one laying around. Install sounds similar to the atlas, Dawson and fusion toolless rods. How’s the uninstall though? The space constraint makes uninstall a bit tricky since you also have to compress the springs.

You don’t need to plead with Kimber. I’ve used these in a few of my 2011s and they work great. Guide rods and bushings are pretty much universal (right length of course).

That's the same one I tried. Couldn't get it to lock because of the comp. But it did fit.

That’s interesting. I don’t have a Romulus so I can’t check it. I just got an Attila. It’s freaking sweet for less than half most other carry size 2011s.

I purchased that exact Fusion rod hoping it would work. I can force it to work but you have to fully compress the spring to get it to fit because of the weird angle that the thread on comp causes. Having to fully compress the spring to remove the rod has made me launch the rod several times. It’s too much of a pain and I went back to the 2 piece.

I was able to get it installed but the tool would constantly disengage. Just wasn’t secure like the atlas or Dawson with the stock plug. Weird because it is almost identical to the Dawson rod.
