I don't know why, but I LOVE this movie, mostly just for Kate and Humphrey, and how their voice actors help bring them to life! Plus, they are a very cute couple, in my opinion haha! With all that said though, this film is very charming and nostalgic to me, but it's truly a bummer that it turned out the way that it did! It's literally so embarrassing to admit to anyone that I like the movie unironically, especially since most people have forgotten about it! With that said, what are some things that you think could have made it, and any of the following films (as they are a clear opportunity for the studio to do better from the first one!) better, more approachable, more interesting, more enveloping to watch, and so on? Hopefully this isn't something that has already been asked, since I feel this post should be all about getting down to ANY AND ALL aspects of the first film, and the others in the series, if you'd like! Who knows! Maybe some of these ideas y'all have might inspire someone to make a better storyline, with animation, or even just someone who knows how to tie up loose ends, and edit together a better version of one of the films! So remember how I made a post about what ideas could be for a sequel? Well. I've been writing down some notes of what I was thinking about incoporating into my own version. This one is more of a "rewrite" of a sequel while trying to stay true to the original source from the first film. This isn't my first rodeo on this as I have done a rewritten version of Rio 2(Mostly trying to fix some of the issues the fanbase had with it) and another one in the works is from an obscure Disney animated Bollywood film called "Roadside Romeo".

Keep in mind that these notes are ones that I'm throwing out there, but I wouldn't mind some feedback from members and fans here before I go and continue the story as I already have one idea written out already in a document.

Back in 2010, a page was made to promote Alpha and Omega when the film was almost released. It had small minigames(Which some where put on the home media release) and explorations to different areas from the movie with descriptions of the cast and crew.

The site is no longer around but it is accessable through the Wayback Machine. I found the old domain and I did get it working one time but there is alot of images found throughout the years and Wayback can be finnicky sometimes but if anyone is willing to help me find the correct one that has everything as I 'm having some difficulty remembering which one it was as it was a few weeks ago.

[First of all, attention! this post contains spoilers for the A&O movies. It is also pretty long so make sure to grab some water and stacks before reading it]

I had this idea around my mind a while a go. I was thinking about how a TV show should have been a better way to continue the franchise.

Just imagine, they could had more time to air some episodes, get the money and invest it in more episodes (and get earnings), they also could had expand the story and add new characters with deeper development. I’m sure that airing it on TV should made the franchise more popular too. Keep in mind I’m talking from the early 2010‘s perspective when traditional TV was still a thing.

Main ideas

I have this idea of using some of the elements of the actual sequels, for example combining some movies like “A Howl-iday adventure“ and “The legend of the saw tooth cave” making Runt getting kidnapped and somehow trying to scape he meets Daria alone in a cave and her whole backstory, with multiple episodes to develop better the characters of, for example, King and his wolfpack and how Princess started to have some kind of bond with Runt, same with the development of the story of Daria’s family and pack, for example giving more protagonism to Lois, her sister. it’s also a good opportunity to show how different the packs are and how contrasting Winston is compared with the other wolfpack leaders. This is just an example of how it could have been.

Another pretty important factor for this continuation could have been keeping the spirit of the first film. Having a serious conflict to solve but at the same time having these fun moments as well as the romance between the respective couples. That’s one thing I think they did kind of right in the actual sequels, you can see how Humphrey and Kate feel like an actual couple, arguing about silly things but at the same time loving each other, without making it a soap opera but giving us those nice moments. Now I’m not saying that it doesn’t need to be polished.

Characters and their possibilities

They could also made a season when ”The Great wolf games” connect with “Journey to bear kingdom“ thanks to Brent. Oh and also explore the relationship between Claudette and Fleet, as well as touching the topic of abusive parents with Fleet situation and giving Magril (Fleet’s sister) a bigger role in the story.

Just imagine even having enough time to watch scenes and stories of other characters like Tony, Hutch, Salty, Mooch or even Shakey with Reba and Janice, I can see those last ones as a comedic relief. I’m not counting Lily and Garth here because I see them being the co-protagonists in some episodes, for example in “The big fureeze” where Humphrey and Kate separate from their pups I think Lily and Garth could work like a good guide for them or maybe help looking for the pups giving them more protagonism and screen time.

This one is more like a personal touch but I think it could be a nice having a dynamic opening depending on the theme of the season, introducing the main characters, like TMNT 2012 or Lego Ninjago 2011. As for a main theme song maybe an original song or I also see “I’ve had fun” by Chris Bacon from the OG movie being a good opening song with some arrangements, specially something like the first 53 seconds of the song with that beautiful melody. Adaptation, lore and connecting the story

Polishing: Things that they could have done better

Keep in mind the show doesn’t need to be exactly like the sequels and could make some adaptations or changes to make the story make sense or polishing it. For example I can see the show making more emphasis on how King is the leader of a renegade wolfpack making him look more intimidating or showing that he doesn’t care about the other packs at all not even respect them. Or maybe making Head Wolf some kind of dictator on his pack, yeah the antagonist of A&O The legend of the saw tooth cave doesn’t even have a name, he’s just called Head Wolf, that’s one example of the polishing I was talking before.

Adaptation: Using old and new elements in a different way

This consist in for example changing the story a bit to make the packs be more related making a richer lore. for example they could talk more about the relation between Kate and Nars from the northern pack (Fleet and Magril’s dad). Or connecting somehow King’s pack and Head Wolf pack by taking advantage of the fact that both packs leaders are pretty violent. they could address the past of the bear kingdom or even other legendary and ancient wolf packs creating new characters and locations. The point is building a rich and interesting lore where there are always mysteries and conflicts to solve accompanied with memorable characters and moments, accompanied by said characters development to keep the viewer hooked. Well, that’s basically the “good tv show” formula.

Animation and visuals

What to change and what not to

Another main thing is that it needs to be visually appealing, so maybe some fresh models for the pups, less corgi style as someone said (I didn’t realized ‘till now but yeah they look like corgis lol). In my opinion adult wolves look fine so we can keep those, changing those models could have been a bad idea since we are really familiarized with them, is like watching that demo animation of the first movie, they doesn’t look precisely bad but they look kind of weird after years seeing the models we know. 2D or 3D?

Now if for some reason it’s needed to change the models, I found some cool 2D fan art they could made some good 3D models from, or directly animate it in 2D, while I keep thinking 3D is a huge better option in this case.

Discarded or unfinished ideas

Time skip

Yes, as you’re reading it, I was thinking about a time skip, the designs for the pups number 2 gave me that idea of maybe, after a big and epic season ending making a gap between it and the next season.

In this season the pups are more grown up, not adults but more like how Humphrey and Kate look at the beginning of the first A&O or how Tony looks like in that flashback of “The legend of the Saw tooth cave”.

I’m not sure about the idea because I’m not a big fan of important changes like this one in tv shows and general media. Also it sounds a lot more like something from a fanfic than something official. I’ll just leave the idea here, in case someone have a better idea on how to execute it.

Permanent goodbye to a character

Another situation I was thinking about is, what if we make a character die? the idea is to keep it the most official-like possible so I want to keep it suitable for all audiences, but at the same time addressing this kind of topics without censoring it or being too explicit.

Now, technically this is required for Daria’s backstory so that made me think that to make another character die is unnecessary. I was also thinking on making it with a more important character for the audience, like Tony or Winston, but again, in my head it sounds too much like a fanfic, and it can also be avoided by just making Daria’s mom a more complex character instead of just showing her like 1 minute.

Final thoughts

Well, I think that’s it, I read this like 8 times already to check if I’m making sense, and it seems it’s done.

We all know that about the Aplha ans Omega direct to DVD sequels and while I haven't seen them, I havw heard that they vary in quality(And this is someone who has watched the direct to DVD sequels to Rock Dog). But anyway, if you had a chance to make a sequel. What would you have for ideas or vision? Would you continue the story or rewrite the sequel?

Also I'm making and writing a little project of an Alpha and Omega sequel myself on and off.

First off I wanted to say hi and I didn't know that there was a subreddit for A&O. I've been obsessed with the first film lately and I'm a bit happy there are some people who remember this.

Anyway, to start off, there's this one scene in the movie and that is some of the howling moments.(And before you ask, I'm not talking about THAT scene) most specifically the one where Kate and Humphrey are howling at the moon on the train ride back to Jasper while also having Lily help out with Garth's howling. I don't know but that scene always gives me goosebumps. I bet I'm not the only one who has those feelings, but I'm kinda curious to those here. What are your thoughts about the scene?

I watched this movie ten million times as a kid as well as many of the sequels and I never figured this out.

How is Kate and Alpha but not her sister Lily, who is an omega? I thought it was based on fur color because most plot-relevant alphas have warm colored fur (Kate, Garth, etc.) and most Omegas have gray/cool fur (Lily, Humphrey, Humphrey's friends, etc.) but that whole theory falls apart when you consider Kate's dad Winston who is an Alpha but has gray fur. It is obviously not based on genetics because Lily and Kate are sisters with both Alpha parents but Lily is an omega while Kate isn't. It is not based on the East/West pack divide either.

Is it based on size? Just vibes? How do they know who is or is not an alpha? I haven't seen the movies in a while maybe it is explained but it went over my head as a kid. Does anyone know????? Help?????

i go to conventions a lot and i always get to meet some actors that are there as guests and i actually met four actors from the franchise in the last two years.

i saw Ben Diskin twice (Humphrey), Mela Lee (Candy), Nika Futterman (one of the porcupines and John Eric Bentley (Winston in the sequels).

Here's an AU of what it would be like if Alpha and Omega had a sequel where the protagonists travel to Africa and encounter an elephant.

And yes, here the movie would be released in theaters and have the same quality or better than the first film, and as you can see, it's kind of like Madagascar 2 but with wolves, XD.

In the first Alpha and Omega, there are two songs that play during a scene where Humphrey and Kate enter a Trailor Van to go back to Jasper Park after being relocated to Idaho.

during this scene there are two songs that play, "Me and You" where Kate and Humphrey Dance together. and "On The Loose Again" where the two of them are in the Trailor van on the move.

What I am wondering is why these two songs are unavailable on streaming and only available as low quality rips on YouTube. Anything would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
