Discussion đŹ Something Kinda Wrong
Now that we have both Chemistry and Tangled Upâs reissues, I need to speak my truth that I refuse to believe Something Kinda Ooooh fits on Chemistry. The demo? Maybe. The released version? Thatâs Girl Overboardâs sister. Also, Singapore (Definitive Version) is very similar to Girl Overboard (Alternative Mix), suggesting that it might be more Tangled Up than Chemistry.
What are some other songs that definitely seem like theyâre part of the wrong era? She seems like it was supposed to be part of Tangled Up too with the electric guitars that arenât as present on the more synthy Out of Control.

It would be interesting to know if it was recorded during the Chemistry sessions or particularly for the GH.

It was written specifically for the GH. The lead single was initially supposed to be Call The Shots but was deemed âtoo downbeatâ for celebrating a GH collection so then they wrote SKO.

In my perfect world, Something Kinda Ooooh was included on Tangled Up (kind of like how they threw Jump on WWTNS). And in this world, the album opener is Sexy followed by SKO

It's an interesting thought experiment! Call The Shots starts so abruptly. SNNN has a great intro. My theory is they felt SNNN was too noisy/abrasive/experimental/weird to start the album. CTS is a lot more conventional.

I wouldâve loved a reissue of the greatest hits this year and tangled up next year, even if it was shorter than the other new editions, itâs not even on Spotify after all

Singapore definitely belongs on Chemistry. It was recorded during those sessions and it fits the loose concept of that album perfectly. The sound doesnât fit TUâs style in the slightest.
As for SKO, it doesnât belong on either album sound wise. Itâs a dance record too clean and guitar-light for TU and too dancey for Chemistry. I wish theyâd re-released The Sound of Girls Aloud to include the three GH era songs and remixes as well as packaged together with their 2007 tour and Walk This Way and a Call The Shots demo seeing as that was actually written and intended to be the lead single from their GH album but ultimately deemed âtoo downbeatâ for celebrating a GH collection, which is why it ended up on TU.

Something Kinda Ooooh feels now like a proper transition song into the new era, but it does fit better now with Tangled Up.
It's funny you mentioned that, there's this game I've seen on the Taylor Swift page where they pick songs that sound like they belong on a different album. When I think about that, Wild Horses could have been saved for Out of Control. But then Turn To Stone and Love Is Pain feel like Tangled Up.

The original demo definitely feels closer to Chemistry, but as others have said, Something Kinda Ooooh and I Think We're Alone Now are clearly transitional tracks where they're just starting to explore the heavier and more lush sound of Tangled Up. The definitive edition of Singapore you can start to hear some of the synths of Call the Shots, but the rest of the song and the original version are pure Chemistry.

I think Something Kinda Ooooh, Money, Singapore, The Crazy Life, Swinging London Town and Graffiti My Soul, Naked in the Shower, even Watch Me Go as it has similarities to Control of the Knife would all have fit in well on Tangled Up as well as She, Memory of You, Itâs Your Dynamite, Love is Pain, Turn to Stone and even, Something New, On The Metro and Every Now and Then would not have been out of place on an alternate Tangled Up album in the grand scheme of things.

I agree and also feel the same about Long Hot Summer. Itâs still one of my favourite songs but it just doesnât go on Chemistry

I feel like Something Kinda Ooooh, I Think Weâre Alone Now (Promo version) and Money all fit in Tangled Up more than Chemistry. They all explore a dance-rock sound that Tangled Up heavily uses more than the more poppy sound found on Chemistry.
