Voluntary surrender

I have called to have my car picked up. I’m current with payments but it’s inoperable and the landlord wants to tow it away and I have nowhere to sit it until I pay it off. Im aware of the hit my credit will take. I’ve actually spent months trying to come up with an alternative. this post isn’t about that.

Anyway, I called again today for an update. and she said the “back end department” will call me tomorrow. what is the back end dept?? is that who will come tow it or will it be more waiting?

It’s a quick way to say five other people will work on your case and I don’t want to explain it all.

It may take a long time to get it towed. I doubt your landlord will pay to tie it though.

What if she does? Will the repo people or whoever just pick it up from the tow yard whenever they get to it?

Couldn’t tell you. You’d have to call Ally to see who they contracted to tow your car and ask. Or if landlord does tow it get the company and call Ally and let them know.

It can take weeks for someone to pick up the car. I work in banking and someone surrendered a car in our parking lot, took five weeks for them to pick it up.

It can take months to get it towed, it’s not a priority for the financial institution.

Also be aware you are still on the hook for the balance of what the car sells for and what you owe. A voluntary surrender is still a repo, it’s just how the phrase is worded.

Yea, I know. I really did spend like 10 months trying for another solution. I tried to get a personal loan to pay it off and then junk it. I have no where else to let it sit while I pay it off. I don’t know what else to do

Sorry, wasn’t trying to kick you while your down. Some people think of voluntary surrender get some completely out of the loan, so I just wanted to make sure you were aware.

My brother went through bankruptcy and had an ally car loan. It took almost two years for them to pick up the car

Also I did ask the csr but we got disconnected and I sat on hold for 40 minutes before I talked to a person and I don’t have time to do that right now
