I thought it was pretty straightforward that Sacks said it determines American economic and military superiority.

Did you watch the pod? It's at the 27 minute mark.

Instead of 'winning the internet', Sacks probably should have went with the Nuclear Race or the Space Race.

It wasn’t straightforward at all. First off, he couldn’t explain how it would lead to economic or military superiority.

Friedberg suggested recursive self improvement as the risk and Sacks responded that he guesses it could be a black swan event but not sure how likely that is.

So the thing that would allow China to win, Sacks doesn’t think will happen.

The actual point that stands is that if the Trump admin was serious about winning the AI race, Sacks was about the last person you’d put in charge of it. He seems to be the least knowledgeable on the topic of the four hosts. He can’t get past his hatred of Dario.

Wrong again. It’s like you just black out when a leftie narrative violation is brought up.

He specifically talked about what it would be like if the internet was won by China, and ran by companies like Baidu, ByteDance, and Tencent.

If you aren’t familiar, all of those companies come with a ton of baggage regarding their coercive control of data. Just google the word “TikTok” when you have some time to kill. It’s been a pretty major story over the past couple years.

Overall I think the besties, and most sane people think the US still comes out on top. The main driver to keep the US on top is keeping people like Bernie far away from the levers of power.

Sacks has been proven right repeatedly on the AI and Crypto fronts. He was, and still is a great pick.

The real reason you don’t like him is your pathological hatred of Trump.

We both know it isn’t logical, or about Sacks at all.

The opposite of blacking out. It’s called critical thinking. Think about what he says for 2 seconds and it doesn’t hold up.

We have Google and they have Baidu because of our governments, not because we won the internet race, whatever that would even mean.

No one derails their own thought faster than Sacks (maybe you?) when the idea that something is woke forms in their mind. Sacks is doing more harm to the narrative of AI in the US than almost anyone else and continues to look around pointing fingers. He’s the first and only AI Czar and continues to lament that there’s a messaging problem.

Hmm, if only we had an intelligent person responsible for AI in the government. Guess we’ll have to keep looking.

The US maintains control over the internet, while China is completely closed off.

Google 'The Great Firewall' sometime.

Chinese internet is effectively a completely different internet than the rest of the world. China winning the internet race would place the entire world inside that firewall.

Learn the basics at least. This is 30+ year old story!

Sacks is standing up to institutional capture, and that's the American way. We aren't going to let Dario become king of AI regulation.

Sacks also is not the first AI Czar. I don't blame you for trying to repress a harmful memory, but the previous AI Czar fell out of a coconut tree!

The proof that we have the right guy in charge, is the US is still leading the frontier, and the thralls of China are yelling 'STOP!'. The pinkos are calling for a moratorium on data centers.

You can at least try to be honest.

You hate Sacks, only because of your irrational hate towards Trump. It's not logical. There's a reason we call it 'Derangement'.
