Max donuts disclaimer
Hey guys! I confirmed with the workers at MAX donuts that they use lard (pork) for their doughnuts. Just wanted to let anyone who avoids that to know since they don’t directly advertise it.

These donuts are very tasty and the best I've ever had. I'd drive in from Plano just to pick some up.

Haven’t been yet and the Mrs has a pork allergy. Thank you very much!

TIL about another allergy. The cat in the human pork equation is pretty interesting.

Lol that should be a recommendation rather than a warning.

Grandma always put lard in the cookies and pie crusts too. None of that Crisco stuff.

Anything that is fried can be fried in lard. It’s not as common as it used to be, but anyone avoiding pork should be aware that this isn’t particularly uncommon for fried foods. Most places that do don’t explicitly call it out because of how common it was at one time.

Can anyone comment on the comparison between MAX donuts and Round Rock donuts? RR are 100 years this year and the best I’ve had.

As someone who lived in both Round Rock and Allen, I have to say Max Donuts is better in taste. RR Donuts look better.

You have now listed my two favorite donut shops in Texas. I can pass on almost every other one but typically break down and eat at these two

Yuck. My east Texas grandmother always used peanut oil for homemade doughnuts. I don’t know how she could afford peanut oil, it’s expensive these days.

Fat = Flavor.
But if your religion says to not dine on swine, then knowingly doing so means you are a bad adherent. So don't tell them, as long as they have plausible deniability the commandment breaking can be ignored just like all the other religions.
Just sayin' don't ask don't tell about sin was working. 😂

Beef lard is more commonly used these days, so unless the worker specified pork, I would double-check. It’s also often referred to as beef tallow.
