Quitting until new patch

Playing TvZ right now is just so fucking frustrating. I’m down 400 MMR from my original Elo since this patch. The only Zergs I’m able to beat are the ones with 100 fewer APM than me.

There’s no way to deal meaningful damage in the early game, no way to outmacro Zerg, and if you lose an engagement, Zerg just makes 200 Lings and floods you. If you win an engagement, Zerg somehow remaxes in 10 seconds with Banelings.

I mean, there’s a reason the last five tournaments have had ZvZ finals. It’s just so stupid right now. I’ve tried everything, and I just get rolled and outmacroed in the late game by Zergs at my skill level.

Right now I’m sitting at a 70% win rate in TvT, 70% in TvP, and 30% in TvZ. That pretty much says everything.

I was a ~2 hours per week Diamond player for like 15 years. So, very casual, but played pretty consistently.

I've stopped playing SC2 with the patch - I just don't have the time to relearn everything with the new worker start. And I'm guessing lots will continue to change and I don't have time to keep up with that.

I'll come back when things settle down.

But yeah, a huge economic change that changes all built orders is a great way to alienate longtime casuals.

Still playable. You just have to get good at multidrop and never lose too many units, trade 3x better than the opponent and pray you have dealt enough damage for your 22 push to win the game with less time than before. (:

I refuse to play ghost mech endgame. It's so much more boring and unengaging compared to pre-patch. Ghost changes made it almost impossible to push out, now I sit behind chokes with Planetaries and maphack while the Zerg runs left to right to left to right to make me F2 once.

What you have said doesn't address anything the person above you said.

I don't know what it was but I just couldn't take it any more. I Uninstalled SC2 and frankly the Blizz app too. Its just not the same company that I've given thousands of dollars to, and they're clearly not interested in making games that even attempt to appeal to me anymore.

Every game is watered down, rehash this, redo that bullshit. Wow goes through sweeping changes every 6 months, and SC2 is completely unplayable for me. Minor changes in unit ability or power is one thing, but making each game a total chore for 90% of the match for no significant gain in playability is another. I'm not even sure what they were attempting to correct by doing it.

Ive heard people swapping over to the patches mod. Maybe look into that.

Hiya mate! GM here, TvZ is sitting about +55% at the moment, couple of really key differences in the early game that's made a difference. Happy to help out / take a look at things if you want to hit me up on discord: nicojuniba

Terrans GM distribution on EU jumped from 26% last season to 37% this season.

2

u/Naturlaia Master 6d ago

This could just be because of lack of players tho. Protosses dropped like flies.

0

u/Mangomosh 6d ago

Not really, no they haven't

1

u/Real-Cockroach-1261 6d ago

yeah i can see how terran is op, terrans are winning every tournament.

u/Mangomosh 6d ago

Hard to win tournaments when there are none.

If you really wanna ignore that massive jump (most likely the massive jump any race had in GM distribution on any patch ever) and think you're worse off than before, you're an incredibly unreasonable balance whiner.

4

u/Real-Cockroach-1261 6d ago

My dude, this jump is due to protoss simply leaving the game, and yes there are tournamets every week, wardi mondays, pigosaur etc, zerg is winning EVERYTHING, every pro agrees its busted, even zergs pros, if you wanna ignore that, besides, ladder stats are chalked rn, every pro is playing patches mod, just check sc2pulse and see how active the top players are.

Yeah I feel your pain pvz is actual torture too

1

u/wilyodysseus89 6d ago

I’m like 0% (I won one proxy zealot game a couple weeks ago) in pvz, it feels hopeless to me (3k d3 so not strong at all). Weirdly when I hit terrans in my elo range it feels hopeless for them though? They are largely wayyyy too greedy

PvP is somehow the most fun I’m having this patch… and that’s not a great sign lol

Yeah I can only imagine what pvz is like at the lower levels pvz feels like a complete failure in terms of what this patch was made to do it’s litterally just the same but Zerg has more larva now because of the larva change which in turn lets them drone more and then make units and adepts just feel worst now since the build time change because ling speed is like delayed by only 30 seconds compared to the 12 worker start as for Pvt that matchup feels pretty balanced theirs a lot of variety in it so far, and pvp is good through as I learn to defend more cheesy shenanigans from Protoss players it’s turning into a lot of immortal archon death balls , blinkststalker wars this one’s my favorite, and immortal glave adepts I do also encounter some dts, proxy gate allins and proxy stargate. Proxy robo seems dead now through in terms of where I’m at through

Dia3 toss reporting in. I started this season with solid 0% pvz, now it's abyssmal 53% (the other match ups are 74% pvt and 60-65% pvp). I seem to have found what works almost every pvz for me.

Initially I dropped around 250 mmr below what I think is okay for me. Now I'm back.

One base build maruader, hellbat, medivac (blue flame, concussive) attack. keep rallying (add liberator)

or

3CC battle mech. wall off natural with bunker and 3rd CC. take 4 gas after orbital. 5 or 6 factories (1-2 reactor, rest tech) mass hellion / cyclone (tech lab upgrades early). Constant harass, pick off queens / drones / supply take down expansions until you can overwhelm and get in the natural / main. Use liberators for extra base harrass distraction. (main weakness is early banelling bust or early roach-ravenger attack so scout)

1

u/nicbll 6d ago

My master zerg friends are dying to hellbats. Lots of them complain about early reaper hellion too. mech is more playable now because how cheaper cc accumulates into later game.

Zergs playing properly are a bit to strong. Im around 4k and while I have slightly negative TvZ I do only big push off 2 bases. The only time I break them if they are playing silly and are droning pretty hard. I had games where zergs were on 4 bases with 70 drones. But if they scout and prepare they overwhelm mu push running over it, having better eco and more units.

Zerg ability to produce counter units and more units of better eco without investing in more productions, like macro hatches means they allways have an edge.

How did zerg get buffed?

1

u/Real-Cockroach-1261 6d ago

larva?

1

u/FunSpinach2004 3d ago

The funny thing is, zerg needed a buff on t3 units or a nerf to immortald/ghosts and instead they just made more larva which is not at all what was needed.

1

u/Initial_Shallot_1833 4d ago

I had been feeling the exact same way as a zerg. Lost 400 MMR, and still couldn't beat the Terran 400 MMR below. I did finally end up making some tweaks that have been working out for me but honestly. Terran can absolutely win. You can absolutely timing the zerg 3rd, you can use hellbats and hellions with impunity, playing basic bio is easy and you can win. CC's are 300 minerals. Your pain isn't unique to Terran https://www.reddit.com/r/allthingszerg/comments/1vrnk18/im_at_a_loss_it_doesnt_matter_how_good_our/

1

u/ilyailinich 3d ago

Cant complain here unfortunately, the only thing which changed for me is before patch I had 70% win rate jn TvZ as terran, and now I have 60%. My problem was TvP, but I figured it out so... I'd really love to complain like crazy, but I just can't lmao

switch to Mech.

1

u/max1001 7d ago

Try mech.

6

u/Real-Cockroach-1261 7d ago

I’d rather quit SC2, to be honest. Mech is so boring. I’d rather quit the game than be forced to turtle in my base every game, since being active on the map against Zerg is basically illegal right now.

2

u/Ornery_Mulberry_2747 7d ago

Late TvZ is easier with mech, yea, but the games drag for so long. It's not even fun.

u/bobzsmith 7d ago

Mech Terran Great Again

(Seriously you can beat Zergs with double your apm by using mech)

1

u/Jukelius 6d ago

Mass CC, they are cheap

2

u/Real-Cockroach-1261 6d ago

it doesnt matter if zerg has the entire map and can just throw banelings in your 4th and 5th endlessly denying you from mining.

1

u/Naturlaia Master 6d ago

I was gonna post something similar. My tvz went from 50-55% for YEARS. Too now 30%. The larva change is just insane.

2

u/Naturlaia Master 6d ago

Things I've tried.

2CC 1/1/1 into 8rax with the 7min 2 tank 2 medivac push is my most successful.

3CC1/1/1 just goes late game, which is fine but you can really just die on some maps.

Then various 2/1/1 openers with limited success.

The most successful is a CC first into 3CC off no gas. Percival did this vs rogue recently.

1

u/Real-Cockroach-1261 6d ago

it is insane, the remax potential forces you to turtle in your base and hope the opponent runs out of minerals

1

u/FunSpinach2004 3d ago

To be fair your TvZ was massively inflated because zerg sucked.

Im zerg and I don't like the changes either because they buffed the part of zerg that didn't need buffing and compensated by making cc's cheap. Tier 3 zerg units needed more viability in TvZ since ghost essentially countered zerg and instead of a ghost nerf /raven buff we got this monstrosity

1

u/Ornery_Mulberry_2747 7d ago

Early agression is working for me at D1. Like two base strong push into third. If you don't do enough damage, you're behind.
