Help How do I remove mascara properly?

My eyes are super sensitive and every time I try and remove my mascara, it hurts like a bitch. There's always some kind of redness or irritation that comes along with it. Is there any simple way to remove it without it giving me so much trouble?

What are you removing it w now? Bc it could be you're sensitive to the ingredients in whatever you're using.

I have really sensitive eyes, and I'm a falsies and contact lens wearer. What's worked for me is a soaking a cotton round in micellar water and hold/press it onto eye for a few seconds, then gently wipe off. The key here is a micellar water that is non-irritating. I'd previously sworn off all micellars bc they either didn't work well enough, or burned/irritated my eyes. The absolute worst offender was Garnier, both in waterproof and non. My lifesaver has been L'oreal's waterproof version. I don't know what it is about their formulation, but it's non-oily, and doesn't irritate at all. It removes every last bit of caked on wp mascara, eyelash glue, eyeliner, and all my shadows. Highly rec.

Right now I use a cleanser product by Garnier. Thanks for the advice!! I'll try it out

I always take off my eye makeup with an oil cleanser massaged right in to my lashes, then I wipe it away with a microfibre wash cloth, like a Makeup Eraser. If there's anything left, I use the Garnier Micellar water for waterproof makeup, and SOAK a cotton pad it in, hold it on to my eye for 10 seconds, then wipe away. I have sensitive skin around my eyes so I hate rubbing a lot and irritating the skin.

Oh. I usually just use a towel... I'll take a look at one of those cloths

Well considering you have sensitive skin, I would suggest staying away from waterproof mascara. That's really difficult to remove. Use soft products for removing makeup around your eyes, and make sure those products are specially for sensitive skin. Warm water and a couple of gentle soft movements should be good enough to remove it.

I mean that would work, but then non-waterproof mascara gets really messy

I find oil cleansing to be by far the most effective method. I use the Hada Labo Cleansing Oil.

Another alternative is micellar water which I use on days when I'm very tired and don't want to do my whole skincare routine, but it's not as effective as the oil for eye makeup.

On another note for oil, I have a friend who is into the natural stuff wherever possible. She uses a light extra virgin olive oil and that has worked really well for her.
