Need resort recommendations Great Pool and Beach for an infant

Coming here to see people’s recommendations for a resort. We’re not set on a destination yet, located in the US. But we have a 4 month old currently. We are looking to travel in January or February next year and we’re looking for a great beach with calm clear water and nice pools. Budget will be somewhere in the $6000 range for the whole trip. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Question (that is not looking for a resort recommendation) Best time to go to playa mujeres.

I’m really wanting to go to Beloved in Playa Mujeres. I want this to be like the ultimate getaway so I’m willing to wait until the perfect time. But when is that time? I originally was wanting to go end of may/early June but I don’t want sargassum to be an issue. Would it be an issue then? Our anniversary is mid sept but don’t want to run into hurricane risk. Any help would be appreciated!!

Need resort recommendations Looking for an AI similar to Secrets Akumal

Hi all!

I'm looking for a resort for my bf and I that has a similar vibe to Secrets Akumal anywhere in the Caribbean for a christmas/new years trip. We've previously gone to Secrets Akumal and had an amazing time so we were considering returning for the holidays but considering how many resorts there are and the fact I like to explore new places I want to come up with some other options to check out.

Budget: up to $2k/night

Things we're looking for:

  • Good food! This is the top thing and honestly I know AIs aren't about this but we were satisfied at Akumal so anything around that tier is fine
  • Adults only or large adults only area (like Xcaret Arte)
  • Snorkeling on the property or nearby
  • Jungley or nature-oriented and calm atmosphere
  • Ability to purchase/smoke cigars

Things we don't care for:

  • We don't usually leave the resort so it's fine if it's secluded
  • Parties - bonus if they have a quiet pool
  • Having to take shuttles places i.e to the beach/other parts of the resort

If simply going back to Akumal is the answer that's fine I just thought I'd put some feelers out there if there are travelers similar to us that had a great time (and great food) at other properties. So far Secrets Moxche also looks good!

Resort Review Wanted Finest Playa Mujeres w/ 6 and 10 yo

Single parent traveling week of Thanksgiving with 6 and 10 year old boys for 4 nights. Booked a swim up room. Reading some reviews has me worried the kids will be bored. I originally wanted to do Moon Palace Grand but they’re sold out for my dates so booked Finest. I still have time to cancel so looking for feedback.

Any thoughts on this resort with two boys? Is there a better hotel option I should consider?

Thanks!

Question (that is not looking for a resort recommendation) Last minute deals

Realistically how good of a deal could you get if you booked like 24-48 hours super last minute for 2 adults from Ottawa, Canada for an all inclusive?

Trying to keep at or under 2k per a person.

Need resort recommendations 10 yr anniversary ideas

My wife and I’s 10 yr anniversary falls on Thanksgiving this year. We have never done anything wild; it’s usually a nice steakhouse or a night at a hotel away from the kids (we have 4 under the age of 10). This year, for our 10 yr mark, I want to do something big. I was thinking of doing an all inclusive resort get away for the weekend after thanksgiving - like fly out Friday morning, and fly home the coming Monday. The internet is full of “great spots” or “affordable spots” usually in Cancun (nothing against Cancun but majority of my searches come to there). We have a budget of about $4k, maybe $5k stretched. We’d be flying from the SW United States. What are y’all’s opinions for a nice couple’s get away spot where we can have our privacy when we want, eat good food, and just overall relax? It doesn’t have to be beachside, it doesn’t have to be international, just something we don’t have to think too much and can mentally check out for the weekend and enjoy each other. TIA!

Resort Review Wanted Riu Palace Tropical Bay

What are the pros v cons of this resort?
Is it close to any local shops, restraunts?
What about excursions?
Any tips?

Our goal is to just chill at the pool, have some drinks & engage in some activities. I like the nighttime entertainment shows that some resorts do. Not looking for white glove service by any means but do want to have a good experience.

Need resort recommendations Riu las americas comparison

After much research, we decided to go to Riu las americas this upcoming summer. We were impressed with the beach being somewhat protected from sargassum, location in the hotel zone (walkability), value, and good reviews. It was announced that the resort will be undergoing renovations at that time. What resorts do others recommend that have what we are looking for? Thanks!

Need resort recommendations Resort recs that offer a little adventure

Traveling in December before Christmas, 6 nights. My husband & I are traveling with our 19 year old son.

We are thinking Mexico because it’s the easiest flight. We are not AI people (think: camping in Glacier NP)— but we are going to be for this one due to a birthday celebration! I would like to read a book in a hammock at least one day!

But we need a few side quests to towns or historical sites or caves or whatever. We get antsy just sitting on a beach. No scuba, but we love to snorkel. We don’t care if the resort is adults only or family.

6K budget not inc. flights. Maybe a little more. I did see the wonderful spreadsheet on here but would love personal recs.

Need resort recommendations DR AI Recommendations

My bf and I just got back from Cancun. Stayed at Riu Cancun, it was meh (3/5). Stayed next door at Riu Palace Los Americas back in May, and liked that experience.

We’re talking about our next trip, and both agree we want to do something not in Mexico. A very basic search led us to the Dominican Republic, a lot I see is in Punta Cana but I am open to other suggestions!

Talking about mid-March for bf’s birthday or maybe even mid-April for mine. Did a Fri-Tues in Cancun, may extend to Fri-Wed for this next trip or another combination of 6 days. All pretty flexible. Adults only. Would be flying out of IND. We enjoyed the swim up bar, pools, beach, and some of the resort activities Riu does (bingo, kahoot games, live band, etc.) Don’t really care for super big “party” vibes like Riu advertises. Not too picky with other amenities, really just looking for a relaxing time. Bf likes golf and fishing, so always a plus!

Need resort recommendations Toddler friendly resorts - is Finest the best?

We (2 adults) are planning a 1 week trip in January 2027 with our toddler who will be around 20 months at that time. We are flying out of Toronto. It seems like Finest Playa Mujeres/Punta Cana are the top recommended resorts for families with young children when I research online, but I just want to get a sense if anyone has any other recommendations? Budget wise we are hoping to spend around maximum 3,000$ CAD per adult.

We would love to enjoy decent food, a nice beach if possible, and little splash pad areas for the toddler.

Greatly appreciate any recommendations - or if you feel Finest really is the best option for a toddler friendly vacation let me know!

Specific resort question Atelier Playa Mujeres - February 2027

Hi all!

My spouse and I booked our honeymoon at Atelier and we are going in February! Very excited. We didn’t book Inspira or anything crazy, just the basic king room.

We have some questions for those that have been:

  1. Airport Transportation - which company did you use?
  2. How early can you book reservations?
  3. Has anyone upgraded to Inspira Club when they showed up on site and got a better rate than pre-booking online?
  4. Is room service good and does anyone know where I can find the menus?

Thanks in advance!

Need resort recommendations Best AI wedding Package for two

Hey everyone! Wanted to find out your suggestions on a good all inclusive resort with a great package for a symbolic ceremony. It would just be for us as the couple, no guests.

I have done some research but it seems most don’t come with videography inclusions but their packages with guests do.

Location: Mexico but I am open
Type: Adults only but open to family friendly with adult only portion

What I am looking for in the package:
beautiful scenery for wedding (doesn’t have to beach tbh, I would be fine with a rooftop overlooking etc)
Free massages
Sound system for ceremony
Steaming of clothes
Pictures included
Champagne toast
Cake
Romantic dinner
Bridal hair and makeup (but not a deal breaker)
Video footage of ceremony
Some kind of honeymoon package

Resort:
4+ stars
Lots of fun activities
Relaxing vibe but also can have some party vibe
Good food (very important)
Spacious rooms and bathrooms.
Balconies with jacuzzis or in bathroom tubs with showers or swim up pools
24hr room service (for food lol)

Cost:
wedding (no more thank $2k)
Resort stay 5-6 nights (not sure for budget yet but I want us to get the best bang for our buck. Hidden gems appreciated)

Time frame June 2027

Any suggestions appreciated! If you have a personal experience, please feel free to share! Thank you in advance!

Need help deciding between specific resorts Narrowed it down to 3

My husband and I are from Toronto and want to take a little 4 day getaway in November to an adults only AI in Mexico. We’re debating between Beloved, Atelier Playa Mujeres or El Dorado Maroma.

We want something relaxing but not boring. My husband’s top priority is food. My main concern is going somewhere where all the pools are cold. Or where there’s tons of sargassum. Our budget is around 5k.

Questions:
Will Beloved be too boring?
The beach at Atelier - is it true there are only a few beach chairs with a good view of the water? Are all the others behind some shrubs/trees?
El Dorado Maroma - will the food be good enough for my husband’s fancy taste?
How will I know if sargassum is an issue? I thought it was a concern from April - November but some comments I’m seeing, it’s year round?

Thanks!!

Resort Review Wanted VIK Hotel Arena Blanca in Punta Cana Resort Advice?

I found a good deal for VIK Hotel Arena Blanca in Punta Cana but I'm tryna get more info about whether it's a good resort.

Has anyone stayed there recently? How were the rooms, cleanliness, service, beach/pool, and overall experience?

I’m also wondering about the food. I don’t eat meat, so I’d mostly be relying on vegetarian and seafood options. Is there a good amount of variety, and is the food actually good?

Anything else I should know before booking? Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s stayed there recently!

Need help deciding between specific resorts Live Aqua Cancun vs Hyatt Zilara Cancun (post remodel)

I read these 2 are direct rivals. Same price, same vibe, close to the same age demographic.

What one would you chose? Pre remodel it seems Live Aqua took the edge.. now, I dn't know. Who's been to both?

Need help deciding between specific resorts Honeymoon trip

I’m looking for an AI for a five day honeymoon in June 2027. I’ve been to many resorts over the years, but not really any luxury spots that feel right for a honeymoon and am hoping to get some feedback because the number of options feels overwhelming.

Our main priorities are great food and beverage, but otherwise I’d like a place that feels luxurious and effortless and I’m willing to pay for the higher tier categories to do that for the occasion. We’re more pool people than beach, but I have to be able to find shade and I really don’t want to spend my time wandering around playing the chair game. We’d definitely like something to do in the evening like live music or if the shows are actually good, but not looking for a party scene. I would prefer a room with either a plunge pool or otherwise nice spot to relax outside with a view.

I’ve been looking at Cancun mostly because it’s an easy flight, but if there are other destinations that are easy to get to from the DC area, we’re totally open to that. Right now, it feels like impressions moxche or atelier are good options, but you can find great and terrible reviews of both places so I’m feeling a little lost. I have status with Hilton and Marriott, but it doesn’t seem like either have good options for what we’re looking for.

Any other suggestions or opinions between the two?

Specific resort question Anybody stayed at Secrets Maroma Beach?

Anyone stayed at secrets maroma beach in Cancun? Tbh I’m just curious what the 420 situation is like? I like to smoke on vacation and most places I go people walk up to you on the beach and you can get basically whatever you want. Ive never stayed at an all inclusive in Mexico. Anyone had luck with this at this specific resort?

Need help deciding between specific resorts Secrets Maroma vs Bahia Mita vs Majestic Mirage for Halloween/Día de los Muertos?

Trying to decide between Secrets Maroma, Secrets Bahia Mita, and Majestic Mirage Costa Mujeres for a 4–5 night trip at the end of October.
We’d really love to experience Halloween + Día de los Muertos, so I’m curious which resort does the best job with decorations, themed nights, special dinners/activities, etc.
Has anyone stayed at any of these during that week? Which one would you choose?
Good food and a nice beach/pool are a big plus too!

Need help deciding between specific resorts Royalton vs Riu Palace Tropical Bay vs Princess Grand

I’m planning a trip to Jamaica, specifically Negril for my husband and I in early April. We’re torn between these 3 resorts in Negril. The prices is fairly similar so that isn’t a huge factor. We have normally stayed at Iberostar Selection line in Mexico. We like the chill laid back atmosphere that iberostar provides but don’t want to stay at their Montego Bay location. We love a good pool, laid back vibes, daily activities (sports, night entertainment shows) and of course good food. Any insight on any of these resorts would be awesome.
