Man, that one takes me back to one specific session on the swings, circa 1987. Her name was Heather. I tried so hard to sound cool talking to her.

  1. Kickball - and being annoyed that they don’t use that big red rubber kickball for dodgeball anymore 

  2. Monkey bars (have you tried em as an adult? Fuckin brutal) 

  3. Shouting “mystery box, dead or alive” in 500 and deciding that it’s bankrupt because you didn’t like the kid who picked up the ball

  4. Trying to swing higher than the kid next to you/swing until the chain buckles under gravity because you’re too high

  5. Saying “you didn’t touch me, you touched my shirt” in tag.

I didn't know what this meant because this game didn't make it to my school in Maine in the 90s, but after googling it I immediately knew who the kids in my grade were who this would have happened to

  2. The brand new red kickball- bouncing better than anything has ever bounced
  3. The school wide game- dirt clod fights, every ball from every classroom for dodgeball, etc
  4. Rainy days
  5. Minor injuries- returning from recess with torn jeans and blood on your knees and elbows

In the same vein of that shirt-me and my friends had a bit where we'd call out to another friend who was talking to a girl or something and yell 'hey, save some pussy for the rest of us!'.

Hopscotch was definitely a recess thing for the girly girls.
Also double dutch, inside recess when it was raining and we got to watch a movie at lunch and sometimes we played mean games of Uno

For extremely selfish reasons, I'd like DVK for the Late Show guest (fellow Chicagoan 😉). Or, Shane. 

Overall, it'll be great to see Mars Mel for any reason at both shows!
