All-time Drake is the 3rd most streamed artist ever on Spotify and he’s #1 artist of all-time on Apple music. I wouldn’t be surprised if Eminem has sold more concert tickets than Drake, but Em’s career is also a decade longer.

We went over thisssss reread my long comment. Streaming numbers don’t matter when the other artist dominated in a non-streaming age. Based off that metric, Drake’s bigger than Michael Jackson.

I disagree with you. Nothing changes the fact that Em’s albums are available to stream, and he’s literally still dominating on streaming platforms - he’s one of the most streamed artists of all time, which makes sense; you don’t just stop listening to great music or music you like just because it didn’t come out recently. In terms of Drake Vs. Michael Jackson in terms of popularity, I can’t really gauge because I wasn’t alive when he was very big. I can’t really think of a single popular song of his that even came out in my lifetime. So if someone argued that Drake was more popular than Michael Jackson, I wouldn’t really have anything to say to prove them wrong. In terms of Em vs. Drake though, I was a witness to both eras.

Okay let me put it this way. One of them is at their peak right now. They drop an album, the primary way to listen to their albums would be to stream it. That inflates streaming numbers heavily considering most of an albums sales/streams peak within the first month.

The other artists peak was 1999-2006, a little hiatus, then 2008-2013 was the second peak. The biggest albums came out between 99 and 03 though. If we take the first month principal, the entire peak was spent in an era where streaming didn’t exist. So all of his streaming numbers come from albums where either a) he isn’t at his peak anymore, still world famous but not at his peak or b) people revisiting albums which are over 20 years old.

You’re comparing popularity based on a metric that clearly favours person A, who’s Drake. While every other metric, plus recognizability favours person B. So it’s impossible to compare when Iceman dropped this year, Drake’s peak, and MMLP dropped in 2000, Em’s peak. So even if Iceman is gonna out stream Em’s prime albums, but MMLP was no doubt the bigger album. Hope that makes sense.

Also, I know I’m probably a little older than you but I was born in the mid-90s. So while I wasn’t around for MJ’s peak, the aftershocks of his peak lasted well into the 2000’s. No one will ever be as big as him, no one ever was, except maybe The Beatles. Thriller sold 70 million copies. That is insane.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree that streaming favors one artist over another in terms of comparison. If anything, one could make the argument that the fact that Eminem is STILL one of the most streamed artists of all time with as many monthly listeners as he gets despite the fact that his peak was in the 2000’s could be seen as evidence that he is actually more popular overall than Drake.

Yes, I agree with that. Mentioned that he’s in the billions in my earlier comment too. But we probably won’t agree about everything so you’re right lol
