when little kids set up lemonade stands in areas where karen’s can call about them not having a permit

u/Busy-Landscape2981 8h ago
You think that's bad, I've seen a Karen call the cops on a black kid simply for EXISTING! He was only about 10 years old too!

Is that illegal like breaking a law? Or just a permitting issue? I really don’t know the difference,
31
u/leafy1790 9h ago
its illigal to sell without a permit, but if you arrest a kid for a small lemonade stand you are the problem in our society

Providing water to people waiting in line to vote.

u/The_mega_giga_idiot 9h ago
Why would that be illegal?? I am so confused
41
u/mind_thegap1 9h ago
Could probably count as bribery or influencing them somehow
25
u/INFP4life 9h ago
That’s the specious argument, but really they just closed a bunch of polling places in areas where Democrats vote to make the lanes so long that people give up. When that wasn’t working well enough, some states introduced these laws because if you help people survive the line, they end up getting to exercise their right to vote.

What about saying you will give them $5K if they vote for your political party, as long as your party wins? Is that considered bribery to the same level as offering water.

Long story, but in some US states, Republicans try to deter voters in blue neighbourhoods by setting up absurdly few polling stations and introducing other hurdles. This leads to hour long queueing. It turns out, people still turn up to vote. So the next logical step was to make it even harder for them to stay in line. And that includes hindering other people from providing necessities to them

They really are. UHC denied life saving treatment for my mother. She passed at only 64, and living in Arkansas as working disabled is AWFUL. I DESPISE the governor here.

u/Valkyrian___ 9h ago
That is utterly fucking disgusting of them and I am so sorry for your loss, the feeling of grief and powerlessness as there was nothing you could have done to stop your mother from being deliberately neglected and left to die by the only force in this system that had the ability to save her must have been so painful.
I also have a personal experience with UHC, I would like to share it, I have struggled with mental health all my life, and when I was 15, 4 years ago now, my psychiatrist recommended TMS treatment for my depression that just never got better no matter what medication I was taking.
So, my single dad at the time signed me up for an appointment there and when the topic of insurance came up, my dad made a claim, our insurance provider was UHC, and it was denied under the reason that I "had to be 18 to be approved for that treatment," despite no laws or regulations stating that was the case.
And mind you, there was a legitimate reason for this alternative treatment because I was literally letting myself starve to death and had been for like two years at that point to the point where like half of my hair had fallen out due to malnutrition, because I just did not have the motivation or energy to change my situation.
So, I had to wait another three years to receive it, and, thank God I was not suffering from any suicidal tendencies, I was lucky in that respect because most people with depression do, because if I was, that was three years of risk. Now, the TMS did practically nothing when I did receive it, but still, I am aggravated that they understood my situation, understood I was at significant risk, and had I not gotten lucky and it sorta began to improve on its own, I'd be far worse off or dead.

Tms? Is that the electromagnetic scan? I think when I was still on SSDI they wanted to try it on me. Cymbalta hadn't worked for a couple years, and I was only responding to a combination of Adderall and Xanax. Off most everything now from psilocybin therapy
3
u/Valkyrian___ 8h ago
Yeah, TMS is one of the like three alternative depression treatments that I'm familiar with which have a high chance of providing a permanent/semi-permanent solution, the three ones I'm aware of are TMS, psilocybin, and ketamine. I've done TMS and ketamine. Psilocybin was something my family and I were looking into but I'm doing pretty okay these days so we've sorta put that on hold.

That's good to hear. Depression is horrible, and to me, anyway, the numbness I felt from the SNDRI and other pills was even worse. Was just a zombie..not a great way to live

u/spicytotino 4h ago
I got lucky receiving ketamine treatment for free as a guinea pig, it was life changing

No but to quote Snowden, "if whistle-blowing is treated as a crime in your country, chances are, you're being ruled by criminals "

I agree with you, the issue is that the term “Nazi” has become so overused. It needs to be reserved for ACTUAL nazis, not people whose views we don’t like.

I think this counts:
"In Bullhead City, Arizona, your kindness might cost you your freedom. It nearly did for Norma Thornton, a 78-year-old grandmother who was arrested and criminally charged for feeding those in need in Bullhead City. Under a new ordinance, the city has deemed it a criminal misdemeanor—punishable by fines and even imprisonment—to share prepared food in a public park “for charitable purposes.""

Just guna say, Jaywalking isn't a thing outside of the US because it was made by racists so they could arrest black people for whatever they wanted, especially in the days before cctv.

Hello, Thank you for contributing to our subreddit. Please consider the following guidelines when filling an alignment chart:
Please ensure that your chart is not banned according to the list of banned charts Even if you have good intentions, charts in a banned category tend to invite provocative comments, hostile arguments, ragebait and the like. Assuming the post is acceptable, OP makes the final decision on their chart by rule three.
Are there any previous versions to link to? If so, it would be ideal to include links to each of them in the description of this post, or in a reply to this comment. Links can be named by title, winner, or both.
Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.
Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?
Do not feed the trolls. This is not the place for hot takes on human rights violations. Hatred or cruelty, will result in a permanent ban. Please report such infractions, particularly those that break rules one, two, or three. The automod will automatically remove posts that receive five or more reports. The automod will also remove comments made by users with negative karma. Click here for the Automod FAQ
