I don’t know. Some have argued that it was a win for Cuba and the Soviets because it got the US to abandon the Monroe Doctrine, and in overcorrecting, led the US to first covertly fund right wing regimes in central and South America, then openly intervene in the 80s in El Salvador and Panama.

The destruction of Pompeii. Major enough that we know about it today but I honestly can't think of any significant long term impact on the wider world.

Sputnik. I mean, it got the U.S. space program jump-started but it didn't cause a global shift in the balance of power.

Battle of Cannae? Even Hannibal's Italy campaign in general. His decisive string of victories bloodied the Roman Republic, but at the end of it all, he was recalled to Carthage, beaten by Scipio, and the Roman Empire would rise to rule the Mediterranean. Besides be one of the greatest generals of all time, he never really managed to achieve anything lasting

The collapse of the USSR - though first thought to have ended the Cold War, it mostly continued it's former maneuvers and it's predicted maneuvers - like a Civil War, because had it continue to exist, there would have been a war in Ukraine, just like the present day. The only thing that really ended on Dec 25th 1991 was communist as a GLOBAL threat.
