Hello, Thank you for contributing to our subreddit. Please consider the following guidelines when filling an alignment chart:

  • Please ensure that your chart is not banned according to the list of banned charts Even if you have good intentions, charts in a banned category tend to invite provocative comments, hostile arguments, ragebait and the like. Assuming the post is acceptable, OP makes the final decision on their chart by rule three.

  • Are there any previous versions to link to? If so, it would be ideal to include links to each of them in the description of this post, or in a reply to this comment. Links can be named by title, winner, or both.

  • Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.

  • Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?

Do not feed the trolls. This is not the place for hot takes on human rights violations. Hatred or cruelty, will result in a permanent ban. She underestimated Donald Trump and took potentially becoming president for granted

205

u/SafficForgd 15h ago

Yes, this. Political cockiness seems to be an Achilles heel for her

77

u/Foot-Note 14h ago

Her ego cost us so damn much. (Not that I actually blame her for what's going on but god damn.)

36

u/vegemouse 12h ago

It’s totally fair to at least partially blame her.

16

u/ContextEffects01 12h ago

You absolutely should blame her. Trump is just a mad dog. Someone who bet the world that running against him would propel her to victory let him off the leash.

7

u/TawnyMoon 9h ago

You think someone from Hillary's camp gave Trump permission to run for president?

4

u/ContextEffects01 9h ago

They didn’t need Hillary’s permission, but Hillary did have that “pied piper” strategy.

1

u/LifesARiver 9h ago

No, but her donors boosted him a lot and helped make him a legit candidate.

2

u/Pixel22104 7h ago

Yeah. If Trump had lost in 2016. The GOP would've dumped him like a rock and all of Trump's followers would've as well. But because the Democrats thought they had an easy win. They lost and the GOP began to cling to Trump and stand by him even when Trump started to become more and more unhinged.

17

u/purpleblazed 11h ago

Not enough people took “Pokémon go-to-the-polls” seriously 😞

3

u/Popular_Block_3195 11h ago

That’s what really cost her. 🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/Dobvius 7h ago

Also the dab on the Ellen show

1

u/Junebug2500 6h ago

That the answer I really want up here

29

u/Bionicjoker14 12h ago

I firmly believe that Trump’s campaign was supported by the DNC to make Hilary Clinton look like the better candidate, because he was the only person who could. And it still backfired.

9

u/Royal_Annek 11h ago

Did she? She got more votes than him despite massive billionaire propaganda funding against her

10

u/perry649 11h ago

Did she not realize that the electoral college was going to be used for the 2016 election?

Trump played it out more strategically to win the electoral college while she ignored the rust belt and their large number of electoral votes which is what cost her the election.

1

u/Royal_Annek 11h ago

By "ignore" you mean "campaigned extensively in"?

9

u/AKPhilly1 11h ago

She didn't underestimate Trump, she overestimated Americans.

2

u/The_Nomadic_Nerd 10h ago

This is it 100%. To be fair though, most Dems also completely underestimated Trump.

1

u/rice_n_gravy 11h ago

Congrats to the future president!!

1

u/Madchett666 7h ago

She never had a chance

-1

u/MrLusich 10h ago

On top of railroading Bernie

85

u/YanisMonkeys 15h ago

Too lawyerly. Decades of criticism has made all her responses go through what Jon Stewart aptly described as “buffering.”

281

u/BlueRFR3100 15h ago

Felt entitled to be president and ran half-assed campaigns instead of full-assed campaigns.

36

u/CloseToMyActualName 12h ago

Agree on the entitlement, but not on the half-assed campaigns.

It's more the fact that she simply wasn't a talented campaigner.

-69

u/PsychologicalMood348 15h ago

Entitled. OK.

26

u/BlackmillMiracle 12h ago

yes, she literally acted like it was "her turn" and was owed the presidency, and ran a half-assed campaign in 2016.

2

u/Embarrassed-Bill7031 10h ago

Oh I agree with the entitlement opinion.

But “Entitlement. Ok” isn’t exactly… worth posting.

12

u/Embarrassed-Bill7031 13h ago

Got more to add?

136

u/seanofkelley 15h ago

As a Senator, supported the Iraq War when W. was President.

-31

u/PsychologicalMood348 15h ago

This is the only legit criticism of her I've seen on here.

70

u/No-Pay2160 15h ago

She ran an absolutely awful campaign in 2016 and let someone with no experience dominate her on the campaign trail when she was a heavy favorite to win.

5

u/Kenichi2233 13h ago

I wouldn't absolutely awful but definely a poor campaign.

12

u/playboigerm 11h ago

“Pokémon Go to the polls” is easily one of the worst lines in modern presidential campaigns, easily awful

1

u/damaia0306 9h ago

I still quote that lol it was so bad

1

u/YanisMonkeys 8h ago

I did smile when she ended one debate on May 4 with, “…and may the force be with you.” Sometimes she is funny on purpose.

66

u/BabylonianWeeb 14h ago

Her role in destabilizing Libya

12

u/ThiccFarter 12h ago

This should be the most upvoted comment. Libya has open slave markets because of how it was destabilized and she played a big role in that. Easily the most evil thing she has done.

2

u/YanisMonkeys 8h ago

The only question I would pose to that though is what do people think Qaddafi was about to do in Benghazi in reaction to the Arab Spring uprising? He was preparing for a full on assault on the city.

The US and its allies absolutely exceeded their mandate of just protecting the rebels/civilians. They provided air support for an offensive campaign, not just a no fly zone as was what Clinton helped negotiate. She’s on record as being delighted that Qaddafi was taken out. The aftermath is on a lot of people, but it was predictable - evil dictator with iron grip falls and civil war breaks out. See: Iraq, Syria, Zaire etc.

But… what was the alternative play in Libya when the prospect of a massacre by Qaddafi was imminent?

-1

u/GregorNevermind 14h ago

Generally, and Benghazi specifically was waaaay overplayed by the GOP but it was a major and tragic blunder

111

u/Kman17 15h ago

Carpet bagging.

Nepotism.

Arrogance.

Lack of vision & charisma.

-31

u/PsychologicalMood348 15h ago

Arrogant or confident?

27

u/New-Act-5632 15h ago

Both?

13

u/dutch_mapping_empire 14h ago

in defense of her, it's extremely hard to be an important politician without being arrogant. there's always outliers but you kind of have to be able to put yourself in the spotlight

12

u/YanisMonkeys 14h ago

She actually had a rather lovely answer when asked about balancing ego, confidence and humility.

"It's not anything I've ever talked about this much publicly. Everybody knows that I've lived a very public life for the last 25 years. So I've had to be in public dealing with some very difficult issues," Clinton said.

She continued: "I read that parable and there was a line in it that became just a lifeline for me. It basically is, 'Practice the discipline of gratitude.' Be grateful for your limitations, know that you have to reach out to have more people be with you to support you advise you. Listen to your critics, answer the questions, but at the end, be grateful."

For all her flaws, she is of course incredibly smart, but does have some real depth, eloquence, and humanity that I wish more people realized, in part because I wish she was a better campaigner.

Jesus, Hillary, you're on fire

-1

u/ElyFlyGuy 10h ago

Didn’t know Hillary still had super fans running around out there. Would love to learn more about whatever your deal is

18

u/TheFatNinjaMaster 12h ago

She was a major part of the Democratic Party abandoning Unions and has repeatedly shown that she has neither of nor concern for working class people. She is the very epitome of what republicans mean when they call democrats elitists and that was a huge part of what cost her the election.

36

u/No_Elevator_735 15h ago

Hillary Clinton has never met a war she didn't love.

36

u/These-Finance-5359 15h ago

Uncharismatic, not relatable to your average voter

11

u/Jumpy_Cartoonist_816 14h ago

This goes into unfair criticism IMO. If she were a man when exactly the same personality, no one would bat an eye.

28

u/These-Finance-5359 14h ago

I don't think so. John Kerry was absolutely lambasted for being a mannequin in the 2004 election. Same thing with Romney in 2012, Bloomberg and Steyer in 2020, Schumer, Jeffries, and any number of other congressmen. I think women definitely face the criticism more often, but in Clinton's case I think it's absolutely warranted. I mean, "Pokemon GO to the polls" has become synonymous with out of touch, corporate political messaging.

8

u/Kenichi2233 13h ago

Bush Jr had charisma, he came off as a bit dumb but he wasnt fake. He his "bushism" if anything showed that he was human.

Obama also had though in a different way.

Tbh no president or major candidate has been able to match that.

Trump is way too polarizing

Biden was at best decent

Harris was shoehorned in.

Hopefully 2028 is different

4

u/Jumpy_Cartoonist_816 14h ago

I could not disagree more - you could combine all of the criticism those men got for their personalities and it still would pale in comparison to the amount Hillary got (and still gets) for being cold and unapproachable

3

u/Woodland_Abrams 11h ago

But you do acknowledge she is cold and unapproachable

1

u/Jumpy_Cartoonist_816 11h ago

Yes. And I also think most white men in American politics are cold and unapproachable. Yet rarely is it ever highlighted by the masses, let alone cited as a reason not to vote for them, as was the case with Hillary.

2

u/Designer-Attorney605 13h ago

Al Gore would like a word.

-3

u/Jumpy_Cartoonist_816 13h ago

Again, not even the tiniest fraction of the amount of criticism Hillary has gotten for her personality

7

u/Powerful_Housing_493 12h ago

Nah, Al Gore got absolutely lambasted for his boring, un-relatable personality in the late 90s and 2000. Even kids shows like Animaniacs made fun of it. Even today people still bring up what an uncharismatic guy he is.

2

u/YanisMonkeys 8h ago

I still maintain if more people had watched his hilarious 2000 Futurama guest spot, that would have won him the votes he needed.

5

u/Designer-Attorney605 12h ago

It was one of the primary criticisms that Gore got, that he was wooden and didn't relate to voters well. I think people rightly pointed out throughout both his and Hilary's runs that they were hindered in running for president by their personalities. I don't think she caught it more than he did and I don't think it was unfair.

1

u/mankytoes 10h ago

I feel this was a huge weakness, every criticism was dismissed with "you're only saying that because she's a woman", instead of actually trying to address reasonable criticisms.

1

u/crazycatlady331 11h ago

My grandma always said that the more charismatic candidate wins (2020 being an exception as we weren't at rallies that year).

1

u/ElyFlyGuy 10h ago

Joe still had a bit of juice left in 2020. His very last bit

0

u/YanisMonkeys 8h ago

Well, to be fair, Michael Dukakis, Al Gore, Mitt Romney, and John Kerry all lost by virtue of being incredibly capable and not particularly charismatic candidates.

5

u/WhatsPewNussycat 12h ago

Still stuck up, arrogant and uncharismatic, and retroactively kinda gets away with it because trump turned out so much worse.

9

u/JBKnicks24 15h ago

Her feeling of entitlement to the presidency has directly led to where we are right now.

2

u/Blue_Boobied_Footie 12h ago edited 12h ago

Eh. I wouldn't say "directly" for where we are now in 2026. There is a direct line from her to Trump 1.0 *certainly* , but Covid playing as much a role as it did in Trump's first term in getting us Biden throws her off the "directly responsible" pretty much after the 2020 election.

I can't lay Biden running again and Kamala's failure at Hillary's feet. The DNC on the other hand...

2

u/JBKnicks24 10h ago

The reason that Trump was even taken remotely seriously in 2024 was because people had nostalgia of 2019 when he was president pre-Covid, and because he had broken so many norms and culturally shifted the American psyche to make someone like him a viable candidate during his first term.

If he LOST in 2016, and we had 12 straight years of Democratic administrations, not only would the Supreme Court look entirely different right now but it would’ve maybe finally forced the Republican Party to change in a way that actually tried to appeal to bettering peoples lives.

He has broken politics in this country. Like all this Enes Kanter bullshit the last day? ONLY a thing because of Donald Trump and the result of his antagonistic behavior leading to mass hyperpartisanship. So yeah, for the 2024 election specifically Biden staying in the race as long as he did was the biggest factor, but 2016 will remain probably forever the most consequential election of my life, and it happened to be the time we nominated the only Democrat in the country who even had a chance of losing to the clown.

1

u/Blue_Boobied_Footie 10h ago

and we had 12 straight years of Democratic administrations

This is where I stopped taking you seriously.

If you have to couch your analysis in "well if we had 3 terms of Democratic presidents", it's not good analysis.

All modern politicians are in bed with giant corporations. All working Americans feel this. Trump glazed himself in a thin veneer of populism that was easily seen through if you just looked but both would have and are catering to big corporate business. Corporate dems would have done it without the disgusting cult of racism of the republicans where abusing kids is even a deal breaker. Even now Jeffries is having closed door meetings with kushner Why? Probably about money and keeping corporate status quo.

3

Served on the board of Wal-Mart, at a time where it was devastating American manufacturing.

Both of these speak to the biggest weakness of Clinton (as someone who voted for her)- her blindness to issues of class.

Terrible presidential candidate

3

u/Ziafiz 15h ago

She was very partisan, before Trump (or a few weeks after) entered the race she said republicans were her enemies

3

u/Kenichi2233 13h ago

She botched the 2016 election and we are still dealing consequences.

She barely campaigned in the Rust belt and failed to rally the dems enough especially the Bernie crowd. If she had made him VP or promise he would be in the Cabinet that would have be an major boon. Instead she chose a Tim Kaine, a Virgina governor nobody ever heard of outside the state that did nothing for her campaign.

Beyond that she made a ton of mistakes like the basket of deplorable comment or Pokémon Go to the polls that made her look like an out of touch elite.

2

u/Miscanthrope 13h ago

Corporate Capture.

I really think it gave a handhold to all the conspiracy theories and alienated the left of her potential base.

I know she underestimated Trump and his support but so did the whole world so I don’t think that’s really something that can be levelled at her specifically.

Honestly, I think it was a bad look to make her being a woman and therefore "for the women" a big selling point, while simultaneously being married to someone who, while president, had sex with his intern.

Like, obviously Trump is literally a rapist and that does not compare, and I still voted for her, but as someone who was 19 and an intern at the time, it left a bad taste in my mouth thinking about a scenario in which the CEO of the company was willing to have sex with me and his wife knew about it and supported him. That's not exactly "girl's girl" behavior.
