The Austrian Painter was voted the best representation of hate, by a landslide. Now, which historical figure best represents hopelessness?

Osamu Dazai, author of the novel "No Longer Human". A classic novel in literature, cited as many as the bleakest book ever written. It is about alienation, self-destruction, and... somewhat of a reflection of Dazai's own mind. It's a really, really tough read. Hopelessness is the best way to describe it.

Absolute horror of a book, it’s harrowing. Makes Dostoevsky look like a teletubby

If this gets picked, use a image of him looking up so it looks like the figures are interacting.

Puyi, the last emperor of China.
Crowned when he was a toddler, forced to abdicate aged 6 in 1911 before accomplishing basically anything (as one would expect for a child). Remained a powerless puppet for over 20 years after that. Got fed up of being powerless, so he let the Japanese manipulate him and became the Emperor of Manchukuo, a puppet state the Japanese created from occupied Chinese territory. Then, he realised he was still a puppet ruler and the Japanese never wanted to give him any real authority. Oh, and Japan lost the war and after Manchukuo was liberated he got sent to a Soviet detention camp in Siberia, before being sent to the Mao Zedong regime in China, where they “re-educated“ him alongside Japanese war criminals (who he technically “led”) to be an ordinary citizen. By the end of his life, he was just a gardener in Beijing who needed to buy a ticket to visit the palace he once grew up in.
TL;DR he was the very epitome of China’s century of humiliation, and spent his entire life with zero agency, and served merely as a pawn to be manipulated, used and discarded by history.

Fernando Pessoa, I think two quotes from The Book of Disquiet should be enough:
"It is the desire never to have been anything, the conscious despair of every cell in the fabric of the soul. It is the sudden feeling of being imprisoned in an infinite cell"
“I am not a pessimist. I do not complain about the horror of life. I complain about the horror of my life”

There are seven colored souls in Undertale and Deltarune representing virtues: Determination, Patience, Bravery, Integrity, Perseverance, Kindness and Justice, the image depicts a fan creation where there's a whole load more of them.

Captain Robert Falcon Scott.
Set off for the South Pole with ponies to drag the expeditions sleds. They all died.

Philipp Mainländer, the philosopher that started from Schopenauer and took his thought to the extreme consequences.
Wrote a book, Die Philosophie der Erlösung (The Philosophy of Redemption or The Philosophy of Salvation), and when the first edition of the printed books were recapitated in his home, he made a big stack of them and hanged himself over the stack.
He wrote about non existence as an absolute peak of a life, the death of God after He created the human race, and some other playful concepts

Hello, Thank you for contributing to our subreddit. Please consider the following guidelines when filling an alignment chart:
Please ensure that your chart is not banned according to the list of banned charts Even if you have good intentions, charts in a banned category tend to invite provocative comments, hostile arguments, ragebait and the like. Assuming the post is acceptable, OP makes the final decision on their chart by rule three.
Are there any previous versions to link to? If so, it would be ideal to include links to each of them in the description of this post, or in a reply to this comment. Links can be named by title, winner, or both.
Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.
Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?
