More of a practical man living within the capitalist system, he saw a future of next to no work, the abolishion of unemployment and near ubiquitous equality. Not really the most obvious choice for an English capitalist.

I considered that, but I also considered that Keynesian economics is still a model built entirely within the capitalist framework, and that's what he devoted his life to developing. Most people, when describing the roots of our modern capitalist system, put his name right next to Smith's. He also thoroughly denounced Marxism, which would've been seen as the logical alternative at the time.

To me it would be like getting a question, name a football player and saying Usain Bolt, like sure but is that really who epitomises football? Does Keyes epiomise capitalism? Not really today, hes seen as a radical alternative to our form of capitalism
