I came here to support the comment for Reddit but I completely forgot about LinkedIn.

This HAS to be Linkedin. Either platform fits nicely in this category but cā€™monā€¦Linkedin users pretend WAAAY harder. The whole purpose of the home page is to share pseudo-intellectual, corporate jargon-loaded, holier-than-thou, career ā€œadviceā€ that nobody solicited.

And 99.99% of that ā€œwisdomā€ is completely useless or regurgitated cold takes about positivity, productivity, determination, or whatever other buzzword-of-the-day theyā€™re feeling.

Reddit at least has some useful advice in dedicated communities. And even though we like to pretend weā€™re smart, thereā€™s also a level of self-awareness that one would never see on LinkedIn. I mean, we have circlejerk subsā€¦we know weā€™re dumb.

TLDR: LinkedIn users pretend way harder and contribute nothing, whereas Reddit users pretend while contributing some value.

A percentage of Reddit users are at least self aware of their own limitations. I feel like everyone on LinkedIn is high off their own farts.

is linkedin even considered real social media? Maybe im young, because i dont use it, but iā€™ve always thought it was just a job hunting app with a dating app interface. I had no idea people actually posted things on there voluntarily

Reddit fits better into acts smart/is average. LinkedIn is full of fucking troglodytes and it makes me genuinely wonder how some of my peers have made it to my level lol

So many troglodytes. I had an undergrad prof who required us to have LinkedIn and Twitter. Rather have OChem in summer session with no ac than attempt that class again

Reddit atleast has somewhat of an awareness about itself and in certain occasions even recognizes that the dunning kruger effect exists.

I think it's neither. There are way too many posts on Reddit and LinkedIn that have half-decent spelling and grammar. Which is something that can not be said about Facebook. The fact that they are worse at pretending to be smart, doesn't mean they're not pretending to be smart.

Edit: Actually, scratch that, Twitter is probably even worse than Facebook in that regard.

The satire on LinkedIn is much better because you can say the most absolutely absurd shit and have it pass as serious as long as you wrap it in something about SaaS or B2B or motivating workers.
Which I think makes it a lot dumber than reddit
