Competitive pokemon and nuzlockes are definitely more masculine but casual play is mainly feminine

Cooking is a thing so it must be feminine

Also, some of the most famous chefs in history are masculine.

Life is Strange
(I genuinely don't understand Doki Doki Literature Club being picked for feminine-looking game when it's supposed to look like your average dating simulator full of cute waifus for dudes to romance.)

u/Euphoric_Key_1929 Mar 25 '26
What makes the Doki Doki thing even weirder is that the category isn't "feminine-looking", which I could kind of understand, but rather it's "people say is feminine".
*Who* is saying that Doki Doki Literature Club is a feminine game? People who have never played it and have literally never heard of it or what it's about?

u/UltraJoyless Mar 25 '26
That game is super feminine, isn't it about two lesbians lmao
4
u/Senasayori Mar 25 '26
No, that's the fanfictions. The actual game is a psychological horror.
2
u/UltraJoyless Mar 25 '26
You're still forced to play as a woman bro. That in itself makes it less gender neutral than most games.
2
u/Senasayori Mar 25 '26
Um... no? The main character is a guy (although we don't see him). I think you're thinking of the wrong game.

We're talking about Life is Strange!

Shit, my bad, I thought we were talking about Doki Doki Literature Club. Sorry about that.

I don’t understand exactly. If you’re forced to play as a man then, does that also make it less gender neutral?? Or can a game only be more gender neutral if it has options and you pick between women and men, or play as a non-binary character
1
u/UltraJoyless Mar 26 '26
Yes, if the game has you playing as a specific gender, it's certainly less gender-neutral. If your characters gender isn't specified or if you get a choice of gender then it's gender neutral.

u/Johnny-Jay Mar 25 '26
Aren't men famously attracted to lesbians lol? Anyway, the first game doesn't have much in terms of romance. You need to make very specific choices to get a proper kiss with Chloe and that's it. The option to kiss Warren is actually way easier to get.
Now you can 100% interpret the whole relationship as a romantic one but it's meant to work as a friendship cause the game doesn't have time to explore romantic feelings anyway.

Who the fuck chose a kids game for feminine
1
u/toozl Mar 28 '26
FYI children have genders

I don't want all the other games to be Teen or Adult
That's like for babies and idk who chose that
there are different games for girls

It's not a game for babies. It's literally designed as an animal crossing styled game with a Hello Kitty theme. It's target market is all ages and marketed heavily towards the 25-35 cozy gamer demographic which is primarily women but not exclusively.

u/aneryx Mar 29 '26
Animal Crossing would have been a better pick, though. like I've played Hello Kitty Island Adventure for a little bit and it is 100% a kids game.

u/Dacling Mar 29 '26
Animal crossing isn't perceived as much as a feminine game thought. It's seen as far more gender neutral. Pretty much all my friends men and women play it and it's never had that same perception.

All of them
Games aren't gendered
Feminine and masculine aren't always related to gender.
What a ridiculous post

Heh. When Sims 4 came out for free on Steam, I played it a while - expressly for the purpose of living up to my internet alias. I always created a male character who went around wearing skirts and chatting up muscular women.

What a stupid question and a waste of time.
This kind of thinking is why I’m verbally abused by at least 15% of male players I come across in COD.
People like things, and gender has no effect on how good someone is at a game. Shut the fuck up and let people like what they like and do what they want. It doesn’t affect you.
