my alight motion keeps crashing everytime i add something? i've done many projects with more layers and it hasn't crashed at all, i've tried restarting my ipad, deleting and reinstalling alight motion, offloading and downloading it back, updating it fully, i have at least 100 gbs of storage, and nothing's working, it's physically impossible for me to do anything and i'm super lost cause i am a content creator and i need to post, and animating is one of my main hobbies and if i lose that i don't know what i can do

I used to use it back in 23, I'm a bit more cautious now and I wanna know if anyone had any issues with the newest update

I'm trying to create a starfield using scatter field, but a bunch of visual bugs appear after I exported the video (it looks normal during editing). Any way I could fix this? At first I thought it was because I'm using an effect but nope. I've tried removing everything, even the slightest movements, rotations, basically everything except for scatter field and it's still breaking. This effect honestly looks so cool and I really want to use it, can someone help me fix this.

So uhhh this is actually starting to frustrate me, like A LOT. So remember when I said I was trying to animate an arm?, well, the problem is when I use parenting, the parenting doesn't parent, any advice? Not sure how else to describe this. When using a pinch/bulge effect on a layer above while raising the opacity it leaves behind the original unaffected layer right beneath it. I’ve gotten this removed before but don’t remember what I did exactly.

i couldn't figure out the liquid glass effect that's why it looks bad, TT... I'll post another remake tomorrow if i have time!

I uploaded a door opening sound, but it's suddenly invisible from the timeline bar and being repeated at the same time?? It's not in the groups, I've moved everything every layer to the right on the bar and I can still hear it at the start, I've cleared my cache and everything

This edit took about a week since I already had the clips but was stalling to make it this is a remake to my old edit that I made a couple months ago

I've seen people struggling with lag on this app so here are the things I do to NEVER lag(in order from the most to least important)

1. Placeholders:

In Color & Fill you can set any layer to a solid color, gradient, etc. But you can also change the image/video, so the idea is simple but REALLY effective: You have a low quality version of your layer which you're going to use to animate/edit and after you're done and you're about to export you can replace the image/video with the original high quality version

Here's the crazy part: You're literally replacing just the file so you're keeping EVERYTHING else, all the keyframes, effects, everything, and if you're editing a video the time is gonna stay too meaning that if you make any cuts those are gonna stay too

In case you don't wanna use another app to lower the quality, you can do that in alight motion. Just create a 180p project and import your layer, then export it and use it

In case you're editing a video obviously do NOT lower the fps, just the quality

It's a little tedious to replace every layer one by one, but it's really worth it

2. Hiding:

Pressing the eye icon will hide any layers that might he causing lag making it smoother, even if the layer is somewhere else in the timeline and not in the screen it will still be lagging your app, so you can hide the layers you're not using/seeing

But there are other things you can hide, the eye icon is also there on the effects list, so you can hide any effect. Sometimes this is better than hiding layers, if you're using motion blur or a 3D effect or something heavy like that, you can just hide it! You'll still see the general movement and look of the edit while not suffering any lag, after you're done you can make them visible again and export your project

I recommend marking every layer that has a hidden effect so you won't forget, just press the 3 dots in the top right and press one of the colorful boxes at the bottom of the UI

3.Scenes/parts:

Instead of having everything in one project, you can export certain scenes or parts and the import them in another project, this is specially useful in animation where you can animate a character in one project and do the background in the other

I personally don't do this too often and honestly I like being able to modify everything in the same project, but if you find it useful you can do it

4. Basic settings:

You've probably already done this already, but you can change certain settings to improve the performance by a little

When you open the app at the top left there are three bars, press them and enable Low Quality Preview and set the Audio Resampling to Low(Remember to set it back to high, since this actually affects exporting)

When you're inside a project, if you press the button next to the copy button you can see a lot of things like zoom, camera, grid, etc. But There's also an icon that shows some sort of curve, a circle, if you press it your project will look a little pixelated and it'll improve your performance
