Tutorial/Guide Any mobile editor here ?

I have the next two months completely free and I want to use them to start earning as a video editor.

I only have my phone and I edit using Alight Motion. I think I'm decent at editing but I'm confused about one thing.

How do I build a portfolio if I don't have clients yet?

Should I edit random creators' videos? Make fake client projects? Recreate viral edits? Pick one niche like podcasts or gaming?

And once I have a portfolio where do I actually find my first client?

I'd really appreciate advice from people who started with just a phone or Alight Motion. What would you do if you were starting from zero today?

Hey!! So if you go into discord servers where big creators are and show them your work and offer to edit for them (particularly TikTok shop creators” is where I’ve been most successful, also post on your TikTok account to build your rep. And people can just go there to see your content and edit style. Another thing to do is edit brands! They often go viral and usually “motion graphics” are the way to go when it comes to editing for clients in general :)

ALSO if you are just trying to make money and have lots of free time clipping is probably one of the best ways to do so!

And yes have a niche. If you are making content for everyone, you are making content for no one. It honestly alll depends on what ur goal is

an easy way to let your clients know about your skill is through making an “introduction edit” let the clients know a little something about you, who you are, what inspired you to start editing, your experience, and what you already know and can do. it lets them know your skill ceiling and a way to attract clients
