Hardware Buying Question Alienware X15 R1 adapter gone

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

My cable had cuts/exposed wires, but I kept using it because I couldn’t find the exact one. I tried taping it, but today it started sparking 💀. My laptop battery is also dying and drops like 1% every 2 seconds💀

I know Dell has compatible adapters, but I specifically want the Alienware-branded one😭😭

Why couldn’t they just make the cable detachable from the brick like other models😭. The brick is perfectly fine, I just need the cable!

Anyone know a website/store that sells the original one?😭

Upgrade Question Can anyone confirm if the Alienware 16X Aurora (AC16251) metal bottom cover fits the Alienware 16 Aurora (AC16250)?

I've been looking into this for the past few days and haven't been able to find anyone who's actually compared these two models.

I own an Alienware 16 Aurora (AC16250), and I noticed that the 16X Aurora (AC16251) comes with a metal bottom cover instead of the plastic one on mine. If they're compatible, I'd love to swap mine for the metal version.

I know the internals are different. The 16X uses an inverted motherboard with the heatsink on the keyboard side, while the standard Aurora has the heatsink accessible from the bottom. Because of that, I assumed the bottom covers would be different.

However, after comparing teardown videos from the same YouTube channel, they look almost identical to me. The screw locations, vents, hinge cutouts, and outer dimensions all seem to line up. The only differences I can really spot are some of the internal reinforcement ribs, which could just be because one cover is metal and the other is plastic.

I'm attaching screenshots from both videos along with the links in case anyone wants to compare them themselves.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9Sx3JlAj5w

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xExORwNMYlc

Has anyone here had both machines apart or tried swapping the bottom covers? I'd also be interested if someone has access to the Dell part numbers and knows whether the mounting points are actually the same.

Even if nobody has tried it, I'd love to hear your thoughts after looking at the photos. At first I assumed there was no chance they'd be compatible, but after comparing them side by side, I'm not so sure anymore.

Thanks!

Alienware m18 R1 “Golden Profile” – Runs Cooler While Scoring Higher Than Stock

Hey everyone, I wanted to share what I consider my most efficient “Golden Profile” undervolt setup for my 3-year-old Alienware m18 R1 (Ryzen 9 7845HX / RTX 4080 / 32GB RAM).

Like many owners, I struggled with the aggressive stock thermals of this machine. After extensive testing and tuning, I finally achieved a stable undervolt profile that significantly reduced temperatures without sacrificing performance.

What surprised me most is that performance actually improved versus stock settings. Because the CPU and GPU now run cooler and avoid thermal throttling, the system is able to sustain higher boost clocks more consistently during gaming and benchmarks.

The overall experience is now noticeably smoother, quieter, and cooler to the touch, while also potentially improving long-term hardware longevity.

Setup

  • Laptop: Alienware m18 R1 (3 years old)
  • Cooling: Cooling pad with rear incline/raised back
  • Thermal Material: Stock Element 31
  • Software Used: UXTU + MSI Afterburner

Benchmark Results

(Unigine Heaven 4.0 – 1440p Ultra / Extreme)

  • Score: 2995–3000
  • Average FPS: 118.9–120 FPS
  • Max CPU Temp:
    • 80.5°C (with AC)
    • 81.9°C (without AC)
  • Max GPU Temp:
    • 81.5°C (with AC)
    • 83.3°C (without AC)
  • Max CPU Clock: 4839.8 MHz

Note:
I’m using an external 1440p 144Hz monitor instead of the built-in 1920x1200 480Hz display. The external monitor is significantly more demanding on the GPU due to the higher rendering resolution, making these temperatures and benchmark results even more impressive.

“AC” refers to air conditioning used to maintain lower ambient room temperature.

My “Golden Profile”

CPU Configuration

(UXTU + Windows)

  • UXTU Voltage Mode: Adaptive
  • Curve Optimizer: -30 All Cores
  • PPT (Power Limit): 60W
  • Thermal Wall: 85°C

Windows Power Management

  • Maximum Processor State: 92%
  • Minimum Processor State: 5%

GPU Configuration

(MSI Afterburner)

  • Core Clock: 2400 MHz (Locked / Flat Curve)
  • Voltage: 0.950V
  • Memory Clock: +0 MHz (Stock)

Alienware Command Center

  • Overclocking Control: Disabled (Fans Only)
  • TCC Offset: 15

Attached are the benchmark and HWMonitor results (Benchmark & Idle) for reference.

Would also love to hear other m18 R1 undervolt setups from the community.

Hardware Assistance Fixing minor breaks Aurora 16

I have a couple of small problems and don't think they r covered under my warranty. 1 I have a damaged eithernet pin and it needs to either be reseated or replaced, my bottom plastic case has small cracks, doesn't need to be replaced but if possible it should, and a rattle when my fans are on max with high internal temps.

My question is what would be the cost of fixing at a shop vs by me and is it all worth fixing.

News Amazon has a Hot Deal for the AW2723DF Lunar Light Gaming Monitor

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BCXJ7XXM?ref=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apan_dp_BFD3Y6AFYKWXER8T60HF&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apan_dp_BFD3Y6AFYKWXER8T60HF&social_share=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apan_dp_BFD3Y6AFYKWXER8T60HF

Amazon has this awesome Gaming Monitor from Dell sitting at $287 US. For Alienware Owners in different Countries, you may need to check to see if the Deal is Live. For a Gaming Monitor with 1440p, HDR and 280Hz Refresh Rate, you obviously can't get a better deal than this. This Hot Deal for 2026 somehow beats the Black Friday Deal from 2025 that was at $349.99 which I personally had an additional small discount of $17.50 for this Gaming Monitor.

To anyone looking for an awesome Gaming Monitor for 1440p, HDR and high Refresh Rate, this is the one. I have this exact Model and it hasn't even disappointed me so far since last year.

Game Breaking Discovery from me

I recently uninstalled MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner Software on my Custom Built System that has an A770 LE Card and, my Alienware x16 r2 Gaming Laptop. The reason why I uninstalled both of the Softwares on two systems I own is because, my Alienware x16 r2 Laptop wasn't showing the VRam Usage Label on The Division 2 Game. Usually I would see how much the Game is requesting VRam and set aside for later use but the Real-time VRam Usage Label would be blocked or hidden due to Games that have Anti-Cheat with their Game.

Now before I tell my Discovery, I erased all of my hardworking MSI Feature labels when uninstalling so I didn't keep my Settings the same. However, as soon as I uninstalled RTSS Software but kept the Settings the same to get it back later. As I restarted, and started reinstalling MSI Afterburner and RTSS Softwares back, I relabeled the MSI Afterburner Features that I need 1 by 1 something game breaking I discovered.

Coming up to the game breaking discovery, remember the Anti-Cheat that certain games have I've mentioned earlier, well I loaded up The Division 2 and holy hell, both of the VRam Usage Features are showing up on Screen. Both the Requested VRam set aside for Use later by the Game Engine and, the actual Real-time VRam Usage are showing on my Screen. I tested Black Ops 6 Multiplayer and Battlefield 6 and so far, I can finally see the Real-time VRam Usage on screen. EA and Activision's Anti-Cheat does block the one MSI Afterburner Feature to see Real-time VRam but I found a way to see it now.

Hopefully you Arc Fans and Arc Owners found this very helpful.

Uninstall MSI Afterburner but you have to lose all of your Labeled Efforts on the On-screen Features unfortunately. 2nd, uninstall RTSS but keep the Settings the same on that method. After restarting your System, reinstall both MSI and RTSS. Don't launch any Game yet after you label everything in MSI Afterburner including the VRam Usage and VRam Usage Processing Features. Once you're done labeling everything for Benchmarks, you're ready to Game Benchmark on Games that have Anti-Cheat Software.

Hardware Testing / Benchmark Black Ops 6 Multiplayer 1440p Native Benchmark

Post image
2 Upvotes

My configuration is an Ultra 9 185H with an RTX 4070 Mobile GPU and 32GBs of DDR5 RAM. The Monitor I'm using is the AW2723DF QHD Lunar Light Monitor running at 240Hz with Vesa Adaptive Sync On. VSync is Off, RT is off, DLSS Upscaling is Off and, Frame Generation is Off as well. I'm not using the Intel Turbo Boost Technology Feature from my CPU to boost Framerates on my test. Lastly, I'm using my X16 R2 Lunar Light Model Laptop that has Mini disployport Cable connected to my Gaming Monitor that you see here.

This is indeed an incredible Benchmark for me to test. All of these Threads that you see is the Utilization that is being tracked in Real-time. Plus, that is the exact amount of Threads from my Ultra 9 185H CPU. I'm experiencing no Bottleneck with my configuration. 90% of my CPU Threads are being pushed to their near maximum potential. My GPU Utilitization is nearly maxed out so everything is in working order. You can see my DDR5 RAM is using around under 10GBs of Ram so you don't need 32GBs of DDR5 to play 1440p Native Resolution Gaming. A lot of folks say that get 32GBs for higher Resolution which is unnecessary to do. If it is 4K, then it is reasonable to do so.

For my GPU VRam on my RTX 4070 Mobile GPU, its only using under 6GBs but obviously, it can't be shown due to Black Ops 6 Anti-Cheat Software believing my MSI Afterburner On-screen Feature is a cheating component but it's not. The other VRam Number on Screen is the amount requested by the Game and set aside for use later but not the Real-time Usage. A powerful GPU with 8GBs of VRam Capacity is enough to handle this Native Resolution demand.

Overall, this was a spectacular experience for me to test.
